Burning Our Scents, Both New & Old

Recommended Posts

Happy MLK Day everyone. I'm melting a package of Scentchips in Christmas Brew. I got these from my mom over a year ago and am finally melting them now. Scent is not very strong -- I think the bag might be the kind that sucks out scent over time. Oh well. Probably will switch to something else soon.

In the meantime I am trying to prepare for an upcoming job opening this spring. Last fall I decided to set aside working on my degree in favor of focusing on this opportunity, and I've been doing an internship with the people who will be doing the hiring. I'm not really sure what my chances are (and they can't really tell me), but any thoughts/prayers/vibes any of you could send my way would be MUCH appreciated. My husband is the only wage earner in our household right now, and while we're very fortunate to have his employment, I'd love to get the chance to contribute after having a tough year last year.

Jedda - hope your DS feels better soon! [smilie=yes]

Christy - Are your scentchips by Warm Glow? [smilie=th_scratch] I think that's what Warm Glow called their tart pieces & think they may have discontinued them now. I tried some a few years ago and found they didn't have much scent to them.

Since you've been interning there, you must think it would be a good place to work? Will keep U in my prayers for a good job! [smilie=th_thumbs20up]

I'm melting YC's Autumn Wreath. Such a great scent! I find myself melting this one year 'round.

Trep -- thank you so much.

Sweet -- yes, it would be a good place to work. Especially convenient when considered alongside my husband's work location and schedule. I am very, very hopeful. Thank you. As for the scentchips, I think they are kind of their own brand/item. (scentchips.com) Either way, they're not all that impressive.

Switched out Christmas Brew for Pumpkin Spice from an unknown vendor. This one is better already.

I'm having one of those days when nothing is scenting (or so it seems to me).

None of this morning's scents filled the room or lasted any amount of time, so I moved them around, combined a couple and put on Holiday Cheer by Can-Do, and it didn't do much either. Now I have swapped it out for Cranberry Jam, also from Can-Do, hopefully it "can-do" better! LOL

^_^

In my room I have Floral Winter by Candle Dippers, I can smell it when I go back there, but pretty mild, maybe it's me.

[smilie=th_idontknow]

Enjoy your evening, everyone!

jedda, hope your little one bounces back quickly!

cmarie, best of luck to you!

I was sick most of the day with a migraine (the throwing up completely wears me out) so didn't feel like melting anything. I'm feeling much better now and am melting Toasted Apple Butter from Scentsy. I love this one and am glad they brought it back for this month.

Owie, Mp - glad you are feeling better now.

jedda - Blue Skies is one of my fa-vo-rites from CD, and it is being discontinued. :(

Sweet - you want snow? Got some right here for you!

I have been trying to figure out how to transfer itunes from one computer to another. It has been taking hours. It never quite works as easy as they say, does it?

Lots of nondescript candles today - and YC Storm Watch melting.

Cmarie-Good Luck on the job! Sending prayers your way.

Jedda-Hope your son is feeling better.

We went to the city (Manhattan) for dinner tonight. We drove my DD home and DS met us too. Since younger DD was here for the holiday weekend it was nice and rare for us all to eat together.

Now back and relaxing and melting two great scents from Crosscreek-Fresh Baked Cookies and Gourmet Sugar Cookie. Even DH and DD commented how much they like them. Usually they don't smell a thing.

Good night all!

Good Morning--hope everyone is feeling better today.

Starting the day out with Yankee Apple Pie--it is to be 30 degrees colder today than yesterday. We beat the records yesterday with the low 70's--should be in the 40's for highs this time of year. We had a big thunderstorm in the wee hours of this morning--lightning, thunder, the whole works. Crazy!

Today I have a sick kiddo at home, and he has requested "something that will make my nose open up."

Not sure if it is working for my son's nose yet, but my sinuses are nice and clear!

How's he doing today, Jedda? I bought up some of the "sinus relief" tarts from various vendors, my DS always wants that little vicks plug in thing with the scented pads, but tarts work out to be less expensive and I think they're actually stronger. I hope he's much better today.

I am very, very hopeful.

It sounds like the perfect set up for you and you sound very optimistic about it - fingers crossed here that things will work out, it sure sounds all good!

I was sick most of the day with a migraine (the throwing up completely wears me out) so didn't feel like melting anything. I'm feeling much better now

Oh, mp, migraines are the pitts! I got them when I was younger, but strangely I now only get the occular migraine and very rarely the headaches and nausea, etc. Sadly, tho, my #3DD has them, and they are SO debilitating. I'm glad you're better

We have a teacher planning day here so no school again - my lucky kiddo's are on their 4th day of a long weekend. DS#2 is having a Science Project Smackdown this morning, he has no tv, computer or (duh-duh-duh) XBOX until the project is totally complete. All weekend I have heard "it's almost finished", so now it's time to put up or get busy. lol We shall see, it may be a looooong day here.

As far as melting, I have re-warmed Floral Winter by Candle Dippers

Mango Mandarin Madness by Scentsationals in one of the kids' bathrooms.

Hit up a Christmas sampler from CFTKR: Christmas Wish in the hallway, Christmas Past in the living room, Christrmas Spice in the kitchen.

The other two bathrooms are needing attention. I will choose something when I get moving around a bit.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi everyone...we got back home late Sunday afternoon..almost evening.

The tournament was awesome and DS and his team came in 2nd out of 10 teams! The boys played 6 games of hockey in 3 days! That's a LOT of hockey. Anyhow, they won 5 games and lost the last game which was the championship game. They all did so well and all the parents are so proud of them!!!! They had a blast hanging out at the hotel and swimming Friday and Saturday night for an hour. Not too much swimming allowed by the coach...didn't want them to be too exhausted to play...lol. It was a fun weekend.

Sometime Sunday night after we got home I started getting a sinus infection...waaahh!!! So, needless to say, I cannot smell a thing so no melting or burning for me.

Just wanted to come and say hi and tell you all about the weekend and I missed coming here to chat with you!!!

I did read everyone's posts. I am about to take a wee nap before the boys get home from school so I can be somewhat refreshed...lol.

Have a great rest of the day!

Aria--feel better soon [smilie=th_bb41] and congrats to your DS--sounds like you had a great weekend until your nose started acting up. Hope it is short lived.

I got great and unexpected news today. If you all remember back in early November my 91 yr old father fell and smashed his arm near the shoulder. Since then he has been living with my sister and was expecting a couple of months of therapy now that his arm is knit back together. Well, today he saw the specialist and he has turned him loose--he isn't going to need therapy which means he will be able to return to his own home in about 2 weeks. I will go and stay with him for a couple of weeks to get things back to normal but it was great news and great to hear him sounding so happy. The Dr. felt therapy would just mess him up and since he is a leading specialist I guess he knows his business. We are all rejoicing today.

For my evening scents it is BH&G Baked Apple Strudel and Harmony Home Madagascar Vanilla.

Have a great night everyone.

Aria - Hope you get your sniffer back soon!

Trep - Congrats on your Dad's progress! That's really great - he'll be glad to be back at home, I'm sure.

To everyone - thanks for the well-wishes for my son. He's much better today.

Today's melts were "Decadent Lemon Bars" from CFTKR and "Strawberry White Cake" from Kim's Tart Candles. Both were truly yummy!
