  1. Sunnygt, I don't know if you have tried this, but when I get to a candle 'butt' and can't burn it down safely anymore, I use the hot plate part of my 24 watt melter to melt it. You just set the jar on where the melter bowl goes, and it warms nicely. However, if you have a bulb or tealight melter it doesn't work. But if you do have the hotplate type, it saves a lot of work! Edited because I can't phrase correctly, lol.
  2. We need to set a date still. I would rather be graduated from school first because that's one less thing to deal with in the name-change range of things. But I graduate this Spring, so we'd probably have to wait that long anywho. I'd also like to be able to do more of the planning when I'm not drowning in homework. My keeping track of things is spotty at best, to be truthful. Hope you're feeling better mpfand! I can't even remember exactly at this point! We had been using BF's truck for a while because it has ABS brakes (yes, my car predates THOSE), and that's a little safer in the snow. But this time we were taking the car because we like to take my grandmother with us to the store because she doesn't drive and it's such a pain to do grocery shopping on the bus, not to even mention the weather at the time. So we needed more than 2 full seats and all that lovely huge trunk space. I have all the same melts and candles going. Just wanted to reply to people before I totally and entirely forgot. See, can't keep track of a thing! Edit: Now melting YC's Merry Marshmallow in the LR. DO LIKE. It has this toasty note to it that I am really into. I think it pairs well with the chocolate/mint/vanilla thing I have going on.
  3. Thanks for the well wishes again, everyone. One of my close friends got married recently, so I'm going to pick her brain on how to even plan and organize this whole thing. It's so much stuff to plan, even for a small wedding! I hope you can dig out soon! I empathize with you because my car froze shut entirely and we had to call AAA to even pry it open a couple weeks ago. It is so very frustrating. Guess I better not keep anything too important in there, as the only way to get in and out with this snowy/icy weather is to keep it unlocked. Thankfully it's an old boat, so I don't think anyone will try to take it. Still on my peppermint/chocolate/vanilla deliciousness kick: Melting YC Peppermint Bark in the LR (I love the chocolatey/bakery-ish note in this!) Burning BHG Chocolate Peppermint Truffle in the kitchen Melting Soy Serenity Sugar Cane & Vanilla in the BR still.
  4. Thanks so much everyone! And yes, MaggieMae, I DID say yes! I was just so shocked that it took me a second to reply. We've been dating almost 3 years so it's not totally out of the blue, but I think it is just a surprising thing, you know? Still on my huge peppermint/vanilla/chocolate kick. I got some adorable boxes for my tarts at Michael's! They're damask-style prints and I lurve them. If the cat scratches them I will be so very annoyed. They're smooth so I think they'll be safe though. I was also bad and got tarts/clamshells from a couple places....Meijer had a ton of grocery items on their 10 items for $10, get the 11th free, so they drew me in with that....and then I found the wax aisle.....
  5. I was going to post my late-night scents, but then... BF PROPOSED! so I kind of forgot to! Anywho, my late-night scents are still good for this morning so: YC Jack Frost in LR BHG Chocolate Peppermint Truffle candle in kitchen Soy Serenity Sugar Cane & Vanilla in BR
  6. Sweet, it IS the fun of melting tarts, I agree! Also melted today: YC Country Kitchen Sweet Cranberry aaand YC's Sugared Apple. Lots of good but short lived tarts from Yankee, it seems.
  7. Seems I just can't stick with one scent for an entire day. Melting: last bit of BHG Sugar Sweet Gumdrop candle, YC Simply Home Bartlett Pear (the tealight melter REALLY helps out a weak thrower), and back to Soy Serenity Nectarine Mint. I discovered that I can only get about a day out of a soy cube until BF says that it smells burnt. I can live with that, but I don't smell it at all, it's so weird.
  8. G'morning all! Melting: HHS Pink Frosting, YC Candy Corn, and Soy Serenity Sugar Cane & Vanilla.
  9. Apparently today is a day of power melting! Melted YC Simply Home Bartlett Pear and now melting YC Country Kitchen Strawberry. Seems like the fruit scents I have tried today keep on being good but light. I'd rather light than too strong though!
  10. I realized I forgot to mention what I've been putting in the living room melter BESIDES strong fresh scents my sinuses don't like. Melted YC Cherries on Snow in the little Jar Melt guy on Valentine's Day, and in my 24 watt ceramic melter, at least, they DO indeed pop right out after cooling normally. It was the easiest tart I have ever gotten out, and the throw was good! Right now I have YC Country Kitchen Sweet Cranberry going in the living room, and it's pretty good, but a little light. I don't see this one lasting more than 4 hours. I'm going to try the other tart of this I have at a later time in my tealight melter. I switched up in the bedroom to Soy Serenity Sugar Cane & Vanilla. I like this vendor quite a bit so far. One clamshell cube in my large Scentsy melter scents the bedroom perfectly! MaggieMae, I might try your tip for the summer! I also have a couple fresh scent candles that might do the trick when I feel like fresh scents, since they aren't as strong as tarts.
  11. Morning all! I am usually never up this early but I popped right out of bed this morning for some reason! I'm trying out 1/4th a votive of Stormwatch in the living room melter to see how I react to it. Remelting Soy Serenity Nectarine Mint in the bedroom...for now. I think I'm getting a little bit of that soy wax smell I hear of, but I also melted that cube all yesterday. Still burning BHG Sugar Sweet Gumdrop in the kitchen. Edit: I can't take Stormwatch either. At least that's the last of the clean scents from this basket of tarts, and my little sister has a ton of tarts coming her way.
  12. Aww thanks guys. It would just offend me that so many scents I like on cold sniff would do that. I think my sister would be excited for the tarts, however. Switched out Just Plain Fresh for YC's Cherries on Snow. I really really am enjoying this one!
  13. Hate to doublepost, but... First off, Just Plain Fresh proceeded to give me a major headache from about a single clamshell cube's worth. I now have the window open and a fan going in the vain hope it gets that scent OUT of here. It is not a scent for me! I really hope I don't always have that reaction to fresh scents...I have purchased a few I liked on cold sniff, but haven't melted yet. Nectarine Mint is still stellar though. I shut off the melter since it got a little strong in there, but nothing like the JPF debacle. Used up Harvest Berries, now burning BHG Sugar Sweet Gumdrop again.
  14. I try to pretend the Meijer isn't there. Glad you're okay! Those look so good! 3 scents to try at once? For $2? I got a surprise day off! Poor BF still has to work, so I took a break from homework and reset all my wax setups. Now I have a 24 watt combo melter in the living room, a 25 watt Scentsy melter in the bedroom (I had a sudden stroke of genius and I think this melt spot will be cat-safe), and a candle on my stovetop in the kitchen. It's gonna take me forever to get through my 2012 candles this way, but I was tired of going tartless. I think I've been converted to a tart addict! Melting: Yankee Candle- Just Plain Fresh: I cut up a votive for this. IT IS TOO STRONG. I did not know there was such a thing, but I was almost ran out of the house and the cubes weren't even melted all the way. I'm going to let the bowl cool and do the freezer trick and break off a itty tiny piece and see if I like it with only a small amount. If you need a strong, odor-eliminating fresh green type scent, THIS IS IT. Soy Serenity- Nectarine Mint: I used a single cube in my Scentsy melter and it seems that melter does really well with 100% soy wax. The scent is the perfect amount for the bedroom and it's soothing and good. Edit: Whoops, forgot my candle. Mainstays Harvest Berries. Just lighting this for ambiance since it hasn't got much scent to me, even for a candle.
