  1. For this morning, I put on a couple of tarts from Kim's Tart Candles - "Carrot Cake" and "Pumpkin Crunch Pie". To be honest, they have been melting for about an hour, both smell like straight-up cinnamon. They smell different on cold sniff, but after they melted they lost the other notes. Maybe it's my nose? Also, I was looking at her site earlier, and noticed a few new scents including some Lush dupes - I might have to place a small order soon!
  2. Sounds yummy Maggie! Tonight we're having leftovers - there's just so much in the fridge that we can use up. Tomorrow night will probably be soup - Not sure what kind I'll make though.
  3. What happened? My last post deleted itself! Laurie - sorry to hear about the weak scents from Carol. I have some of her "Vanilla Pinecones", and it is really strong. So strong that I made a note to only melt 1/2 a tart at a time in the future. Maybe you got a "Monday morning" batch? Very unlike Carol. Remelting yesterday's melts - lemon and strawberry bakery scents. Will swap them out later when they die down.
  4. Last night was beef stroganoff with egg noodles and zucchini. Tonight I have a pot of red meat sauce on the stove, with ziti and garlic knots. Should be a crowd pleaser!
  5. Aria - Hope you get your sniffer back soon! Trep - Congrats on your Dad's progress! That's really great - he'll be glad to be back at home, I'm sure. To everyone - thanks for the well-wishes for my son. He's much better today. Today's melts were "Decadent Lemon Bars" from CFTKR and "Strawberry White Cake" from Kim's Tart Candles. Both were truly yummy!
  6. Nope, not really. I catch a bit of it now and then, but overall it is just too much poop talk. I used to catch his segments on Oprah and it just wans't something that I'd want to see a WHOLE hour of, ya know? How can they ALWAYS be talking about that? The person below me doesn't mind doing the dishes.
  7. Today I have a sick kiddo at home, and he has requested "something that will make my nose open up." Burning: BBW "Twisted Peppermint" tealights - these are left over from last year, and still very strong. Colonial Candle two-wick jar "Winter Pine" Melting: "Peppermint Candy" from BH&G in three warmers "Blue Spruce" from an unknown vendor in two warmers Not sure if it is working for my son's nose yet, but my sinuses are nice and clear!

    Scent ABCs

    S - Scarecrow Hollar (Crosscreek)
  9. Oh man, yes. I can't read in the car at all! I even have a hard time texting when I'm a passenger in a car. It is terrible. I'm jealous of my son - when we take road trips he can read, play video games, and watch movies. All I can do is sleep, knit, and look out the window! The person below me likes flavored creamer in their coffee.
  10. Uh oh. We broke the game. I figure that a month is long enough to wait before restarting, right? I've never sneaked into a movie because as a teenager, our local theater was owned by family friends. No point sneaking in when we didn't have to pay in the first place. Mistletoe and inflatable decorations aren't likely to come up in my average day. Okay, let's try again. I've never: Ordered from Tuscadero's Played Angry Birds Bought a large jar candle from Yankee Candle
  11. Nope, we never order pizza. I make it at home though, probably twice a month. I've got food allergies, so I do a lot of from-scratch cooking. The person below me has a fancy cell phone.
  12. Today I'm starting out with Kim's ”Cotton Candy” in the living room. Smells great!

L - Long Island Pastry (CFTKR)
  14. Nope, I just pump until it stops. The person below me makes soup from scratch.
  15. Tonight I'm melting "Cupcake" from Scentsationals, and burning a candle from Slatkin. The candle scent is from this summer - "Island Colada". It is supposed to cool off a bit tonight, and then we'll have temps only in the 50's tomorrow. We get so little "winter" weather that I have to cling to every little bit that comes around!
  16. Laurie - Hugs re: the dental mess. It is always a nightmare dealing with insurance, and I know that it is only harder to deal with while you're suffering. I'm melting Kim's "Kitchen Spice" in the kitchen, BH&G "Pineapple Cilantro" in the bathroom, and OMG's "Spiced Cranberry" is melting in the living room. I am also burning a tealight from Lovie's Letters. The scent is called "Southern Bell Peach", and it is nearly non-existant. I let these cure for about a month before burning (soy.) I know that tealights are not big throwers, but even with my nose right above the holder, I can't smell anything but hot wax.
  17. Today it is "Winter Candy Apple" from Slatkin - one of my favorite fall/winter scents.
  18. Good morning all! I'm melting 'Kitchen Spice' from Kim's Tart Candles. Very nice, as always. Today is full of errands and running around, so that's probably the only melt until this evening.
  19. Nope, not this week. The person below me got a flu shot this season.
  20. Thanks for the well-wishes everyone - I think I'm going to make it. Moms aren't allowed to be sick for more than a day or two, right? Even in my cough-medicine induced stupor, I managed to do a load of laundry and get the dishes done yesterday. I can finally smell a bit, so I've cleaned out the warmers (I've melted various menthol and eucalyptus oils for the past two days.) I'm melting CFTKR "Toffee Marshmallow" in the living room and it is lovely. Very sweet and warm, with vanilla and caramel. In the bathroom I'm melting "Sea Island Grapefruit" from Fragrant Memories Candle Shoppe. It is really strong, and very true to the name. Have a great day everyone!
  21. I think I've caught a cold, so I'm melting "Sinus Busters" from an unknown vendor. We'll see how it helps.
  22. I started the morning with a remelt of Backroad Hobbies "Lemon Sugar". It is starting to die down, so I will probably change it out soon. Have a great day!
  23. Mmm. That is one of our favorite meals - we love Italian food! Tonight I'm not cooking, we're going to a friend's house. Sunday - Beef and Broccoli stir-fry, rice Monday - Swedish meatballs, steamed green beans, egg noodles with butter and parsley Tuesday - chicken tacos, salad Wednesday - eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits Thursday - baked potato soup with ham, homemade bread Friday - chicken tortilla soup, avocado salad Saturday - dinner out at a friends house Sunday - baked ziti, garlic knots, salad Monday - polish sausage, potatoes and carrots, cabbage, pickled beets, homemade bread Tuesday - black beans and rice with grilled chicken, cheese/sour cream/avocado, tortillas
  24. We have been insanely busy these past two weeks. Lots of family stuff has kept us on the road, and whenever we're actually at home we are trying to finish a couple of maintenance projects on the house. (Oh, the joys of owning an old house!) My husband doesn't like strong scents, so the melting has been kept to a minimum while he's on vacation. I'm melting Kim's "Fall Harvest" in the kitchen this morning, and I'm about to dig out a pink sugar blend for the living room melter. Have a great day everyone!
