  1. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US! I am very grateful for this forum and for the beautiful friendships we share. I hope everyone will have a peaceful day and good food. It's been: Southbound Vintage Christmas - Ribbon candy, spiced tea, cinnamon, light floral, a favorite. TBG Bah Humbug - coal, smoke, pinecones. Love this too. BBW Tis The Season - nice scent, could be stronger. Red Apple (!!), cinnamon, cedarwood. Happy Thanksgiving all!
  2. Hello all, Very windy and mild here today. I guess it is the remnants of that Bomb Cyclone, Deb (!!). Deb, that Black Currant from Scentsy sounds divine. Honeybear, good to see you, and your melts sound beautiful, especially the Swanky coffee blend. Michele, continued hugs and best wishes for your knee's recovery. It's been: Ten Digit Creations Patchouli Mint - a gift from a sweet CF friend - earthy and lovely, very strong. Thank you!! ST Abominable - mistletoe, buttermint, vanilla bean, champagne. I love this one and it threw well. Village Candle Royal Nutcracker - slooooooooow to pool out or to throw, but after several hours, it suddenly produced a lovely scent. BBW Evergreen - absolutely gorgeous and right up there with Winter White Woods as my two faves for the season. Threw within five minutes. Feeling much much better, hardly mean at all, but still very tired. Enjoy your Wednesday!
  3. Hello again. Feeling a bit better and I am much less mean than yesterday. I'm very grateful to be home and resting. Susan, thanks for the reco on the Kringle. I can relate to the storage challenges! Good for you, to be making a dent in your OPT, you can do it!! Michele, I hope the knee will recover quickly and beautifully! It's been: K's Kreations Mistletoe Magic- a gift from a generous CF pal, thank you!! - a beautiful scent and DH commented how much he liked it. TBG Fireside Christmas - Spruce, bonfire, candy canes. Very strong. BH&G Frosted Winter Flurries - pine, actually very nice if I weren't already getting tired of pine... Zeep Jingle Bell Rock - berries, pine, Christmas cookies - nice! The berries are a welcome addition. Village Candle Lemon Poundcake - lovely scent and nice clean burn, but it could be stronger. BBW Pink Fairy Gumdrop - a one-wick and not my cup of tea, but it's very popular so my nose must be off. Have a good Tuesday all. My spam mail is flooded with Black Friday enticements but I will not be venturing out into that madness.
  4. Good morning all, good to see so many faces. Thank you ladies for the well wishes, I guess this is the flu and I am achy and crabby. But the week is young!! Hot liquids!! Attitude adjustment!! Michele, sending you big hugs for your procedure and I hope you will come out kicking... Well, after a brief recovery period, of course. Susan, you are indeed in Apple mode. How is the Kringle - how have you found their candles in general? I'm very happy you have a short week, you really deserve some down time. Maggie, I can imagine you are getting very busy with Thanksgiving parties at school and preparing for holiday concerts.... And wreathing.... You are a busy bee. Debra... Aromabeads... Where did you buy those? What see they made of?? *Inquiring minds* Sharon, I like that Zen melt. As for men rushing us at the store...DH is a happy shopper but I want to get in and out of there. Unless wax or a candle is involved... Well it's been: VCS Anna's Sugar Plum Fairies - gorgeous. One year's cure, which seems to be the ticket with this vendor. Beautiful blends. Colonial Candle Pink Peppercorn melt - ohhhhhh so beautiful. Walmart Evergreen Spruce Candle - well, at least the label was pretty. Nice on cold but not much throw. BBW Chestnuts and Clove - a big favorite, just a one-wick and so strong. Have a good Monday all!
  5. I would like to watch SNL! But it's way past my bedtime. The person below me has some candle accessories such as a pedestal.
  6. Good morning all, Thank you for making me feel better about my grocery amnesia... Glad to hear I have company! Maggie! I've been looking at your wreaths on Instagram, gorgeous as always! I hope your VCS pumpkin blend is throwing for you. Debra, totally agree, I am not a good afternoon shopper...I find it more and more exhausting as the day goes on. Sharon, lol, that happens to me too... Can't remember what's in the warmer... Valerie, that's terrible about the young girl... I'm glad your DD will be home soon. Susan, I loved that Bottoms Up and it did better in my hottest warmer, couldn't smell much in the bulb warmer. Funny how the different warmers / airflow / room size make such a huge difference... Michele, I hope you are well and getting ready for your knee procedure this week!! Well it's been: BBW Coconut Macaroon candle, on the warmer (yesterday) - very gentle and calming. BBW Paris Cafe single-wick, also on a warmer - very strong and bitter...I prefer the VRC Coffee scents. L3 Fir Tree Pie Crust VBN - extremely strong and beautiful. Mainstays Evergreen Spruce candle, on the warmer - gorgeous wraparound label - light but beautiful scent. I seem to have caught a bug of some kind so am resting today. I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday!
  7. Good morning all! Home and on vacation for this whole week, can it be possible? I woke up this morning and all I wanted was a nice bowl of oatmeal, since I didn't have a decent selection all week. So I went up to the store, and while I was there I decided to buy all the groceries and not have to make another trip later. $147 later, home I came, started putting things away and realized that yes, I had forgotten the oatmeal. So the water is boiling patiently while DH runs up to Family Dollar which is closer... He was a dear to jump in the car without being asked. Oatmeal is soon to come. Michele, all I can say is that we struck gold with those VRC samplers! Sharon, That dove soap dupe sounds wonderful. I have something similar from a vendor called Cleanse Your Soul and love it. Well it's been an assortment of holiday melts, most of which are a year old and so strong and wonderful that I'm thinking that's the perfect cure time, lol: TBG Winter Palace - French lavender, winter berries, vanilla, pomegranate, strawberries, peppermint, tea, pink sugar. This is one of my favorite holiday scents. Swanky Snowman Balls - To which DH said, "I didn't know snowmen had balls," ahem, anyway this is Frankincense and so strong and lovely that it took over the whole house. Southbound Strawberry Pine - I think Southbound has one of the most beautiful strawberries of all and this is tremendously delicious. Have a good day all!
  8. Good morning all! Just a quick hello, good to hear from so many of us last night (Maggie, Valerie, Sharon, report in please). Michele, totally agree, that VRC Lavender Sampler is possibly the top sampler of the year, amazing scents! Also the Cookie Sampler - DH requested the Chocolate Chip one the other night and it made me extremely hungry. Debra, LOL, you are right, at home I can enjoy some of the liquid toiletries in their normal packaging! And Cascading Snowberry sounds beautiful from the name alone - hmmmm wonder if that comes in the melt form? Susan, I don't know about you, but these chocolate scents have had me craving hot cocoa and chocolate cake. Well this morning's melt has been going for about an hour and it is fabulous: Zeep Sugar Plum Fairy - didn't I get a Zeep box at the end of last year when I was in a sampler frenzy?, can't remember, but good heavens Ashley does Christmas scents so beautifully. This is sugar plums, sugar crystals, and holiday berries, absolutely scrumptious. Have a fine Friday everybody!
  9. Good evening everyone from Houston, Texas where it is much warmer than at home. Just a two-day trip. Susan, I'm so glad the Frankensteins got along and didn't fight, always a good thing. Your Chocolate tealights sound lovely. I used to not like chocolate scent, foolish woman that I was. Michele, how was the ST? Didn't they have a big sale this week? As for CFOW, I think she has some beautiful scents that I simply must order every year. Well I have three things rolling, and I must say I am delighted to be smelling the Christmas fragrances again (mint! Fir! Oh I love these scents so much): Zeep Ski Trip - fresh snow, winter air, pine trees - Not sure what the snow and air are supposed to smell like, but this is a lovely delicate free fir tree scent. OPT Tinsel Tree - from last year's Christmas sampler, and I loved this scent so much that I ordered a second sampler just to get this particular one again. Doing that sort of thing has contributed to my massive stash of wax. At any rate, it's pine, clove, lemon, grapefruit, and orange, and this is a "crawl through hot oil" fragrance for me. WoodWick Petite Candle in Pumpkin Butter, which doesn't really go with the other two Christmas scents, but I had to have a candle going because it makes me happy. Anyway, it's in a different part of the hotel room so it's not fighting with the pine fragrances. I hope everyone is well and tomorrow is Friday and I'm on vacation next week and ahhhhhhhhhhhh!! Take care all!!
  10. Yes, I always read before bed and always on my phone, with the blue light turned off. I also often read in the middle of the night ("halftime"). The person below me will make a special potato dish for Thanksgiving, that doesn't get made that often otherwise.
  11. Good morning everyone! Once again at the airport, heading home, flying to a different location tomorrow. Vacation next week!!! Michele, your SMT melts sound lovely. Yes thanks, so far the work week is going well... Road warrior week. Debra, I did finish a clam of Cronuts, but fear not! There is more at home! Your Cheryl's banana melt sounds scrumptious.... Love banana so much. Susan, I am also interested to hear about the Frankensteins and how well they got along! Well yesterday I dropped into Walmart to get an air popper for popcorn and lo and behold, they had a new collection of 14-oz candles with adorable labels...I may have picked up the Evergreen Spruce one and it is absolutely wonderful. Take care all!
  12. Good morning all! On the road again. Susan, your Hayden Rowe mystery box sounds wonderful, glad it was a success and you truly deserve a treat. Maggie, I'm glad the WoofWicks is performing well for you - and I'm sorry the Boulangerie is not. I see your beautiful wreaths on IG... Temptation abounds! Debra, I do love that dirt scent, although I agree that all alone it might not work... But in a blend, beautiful...CFOW Groot comes to mind... And I'm right there with you on the L3 devotion. Such beautiful scents and everything throws well in my house...a constant source of delight ... Michele, I am still thinking about what fun we had on the weekend... And how good the gin smelled at the second distillery. I have never been a fan of the liquors but that was so fragrant and lovely. *Need a gin melt* Well it's been: ScentSationals Sugared Pumpkin Cronuts - and you all know how I feel about this one... CBV White Chocolate Mint - so strong I had to turn it off. Beautifully done but I think I'm not a fan of the chocolate mint combination in wax, even though that's my favorite in ice cream. Have a good Tuesday all.
  13. ( I'm sorry that the warmers just haven't come together in beauty and function... It's the same here... The beautiful ones don't melt well..) Yes! To walk in the woods during a snowfall is one of life's best moments for me.... Happy memories of my big dogs Dan and Montgomery and me... The person below me will go to a holiday lights festival sometime this winter.
  14. Good morning all! Debra, what were you up to all day? Was it Errand Day? You need a day of rest. Maggie! I like that that Zeep Boulangerie... However I had two different pour dates and the throw was completely different between the two...I hope yours was the better one. Susan, agreed with the others - your WoodWick candle sounds like a scent I'll need to hunt down. Well Michele and I had a great day yesterday with our DH's visiting local bourbon distilleries and eating German food! The scale of the two places could not have been more different - the first one little more than one full drum of mash and a small still, the second a multi-level process - yet each successful in its own right as a local enterprise. Michele's husband organized the whole day, and by chance he chose a restaurant we had already tried and loved! Easy conversation and laughter all day and I hope there will be many more adventures to come between the four of us. Friends are the great gift of life. Well this morning it's: BBW Lava Cake, a gift from a sweet CF friend, thank you!! If Hot Cocoa and Cream is like a cup of hot chocolate, the Lava Cake is more like a hot fudge sundae with a bakery note. Oh, I am dying of chocolate happiness. Have a peaceful Sunday all!!
  15. Good morning all! Maggie and Debra, that is indeed amazing, given the long time since you bought those New Orleans melts! Great minds! Michele, right there with you on the Blackberry Jam Butter Cookie, love anything blackberry! Well today Michele and I are off on another adventure, this time with our DHs in tow, to visit two bourbon distilleries in Kentucky and then eat some German food. We live near the KY border so this is a local attraction, which of course my DH and I have never done because...it's a local attraction! Really looking forward and we will try to talk about some things besides scent so we don't lose the fellows. It's been: SGA Jack Frost - spearmint, peppermint, vanilla, cotton candy - I adore this and the breakaway bar has only a little bit left. SGA Pretzels - gorgeous and toasty and salty and makes me want a big chewy pretzel from the Philly airport. BBW White Winter Woods - on the warmer - one of my top favs from BBW. Hope everyone is well. It's a little bit warmer than last week's polar temperatures, but I miss the snow. Enjoy your Saturday all!
  16. I have not! We hardly go to the movies anymore. I guess I have gotten used to watching stuff at home. The person below me has a favorite wax warmer.
  17. Good morning all! Michele, yes it is quiet in here. I hope your brother's chemo will do its job quickly and perfectly. And I couldn't agree more that the VRC Coffee Sampler is spectacular. I have only a few beans left and I am metering them out very slowly. How was the BBW Salted Pretzel Milkshake? Can't believe it's Friday already. This week sped by and all I did was mostly stay at home. So wonderful. Well it's been: Hayden Rowe Christmas Clouds - love this scent but to me it does not scream Christmas - White Clouds laundry and VBN - but such a beautiful clean scent and very very strong, doesn't need much in the melter at all. SGA November Rain - air, water, amber - even with the dreaded amber, this is lovely. A breakaway bar which I had forgotten about. BBW Chestnut and Clove - on the warmer last evening - gorgeous and I am quite a fan of every one of their Chestnut scents. BBW Hot Cocoa & Cream - on the warmer this morning -- ohhhhhhhh you know how I feel about this one. DH has asthma and I notice he coughs quite a bit when I'm burning candles. Therefore everything is going on the plate warmer. Much cleaner and mega strong, so this is a win. Enjoy your Friday everyone! With this week's snow I may have brought out a couple of the Christmas decorations. Maggie's beautiful gingerbread men wreath is already on the wall.
  18. (oh my goodness, yes - electrocution is way up on my list of things to avoid!!) Yes I have mild seasonal allergies, I think to cut grass, but just a little sneezing. The person below me likes oatmeal with raisins in the morning.
  19. Good morning everyone! It's almost up to the freezing mark this morning and feels like a heat wave after the last couple of frigid days. Debra, I love that CFTKR Frost on the Pumpkin. Of course I love almost anything by Carol! Maggie, you are so sweet to outfit your daughters' apartment with little Christmas trees.... It will be so homey and beautiful! And yes, I hate it when the forecasters give those huge snow predictions and then it fizzles out. Susan, I love CFOW's stainless steel. I remember thinking, what does SS smell like?? But I really liked it. Michele, I hope your brother is bearing the treatments as well as possible a and is on the way to a complete recovery. Well I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying being home, and DH, Clemmie and the dogs seem to approve as well. I have hardly left the house, although yesterday I did have to go in to the office for a short time. It's been: RG Spearmint - her spearmint is mixed with vanilla and is very strong and delicious. I was trying to work through some of my bags, but I think I'm going to abandon this and start on the Winter melts. There are just too many bags and I'm feeling overwhelmed, which I don't want to be. L3 Sleigh Ride - Winter Candy Apple, Peppermint, and Sweater Weather. I like this one because it spruces up the SW, not always my favorite note by itself. VCS Christmas in Connecticut - Apple pie, eggnog, cranberry, vanilla ice cream - very different combination and I love! Nice and strong after a year's curing. BBW Berry Waffle Cone - one-wick, on the warmer - oh this is a beautiful scent, both the berry and the waffle cone coming through loud and clear. Have a good Thursday all! This week is going by too quickly.
  20. Good morning everyone! It snowed!! Just about an inch, but still! So beautiful and heartwarming. Michele, prayers that your brother will have a complete and speedy recovery. Your scents all sound wonderful - the Queen of Hearts and Lavender Paris are also favs of mine. Well it's been: Colonial Candles Snow Day - in honor of the occasion! - eucalyptus, mint, and greens. I have just one more oval clam of this, and then will need to get more off eBay as this scent has been discontinued. TBG Cranberry Fig TBG Faerie Bonfire - Leaves and smoky sweetness, very nice. BBW Black Vanilla Currant - on the warmer as it is way down in the jar and was starting to smoke. Love, love, love this scent. Have a snowy Tuesday - or enjoy the weather wherever you are.
  21. Good morning everyone! It is supposed to snow tonight here in SW Ohio, 1-3", so I'm so excited!! Susan, I'm glad you had a good visit with your parents. And oooh, a Hayden Rowe mystery box! I got one in the summer and it was full of all sorts of wonderfulness. When you get it, please tell us what you received! Michele, I saw your tree on IG and it is absolutely beautiful! You really know how to decorate. And yes, I finally gave up on my smoker of a candle and put him on the warmer, huge success and he smells divine. So it's been: ScentSationals Sugar Pumpkin Cronuts - got more of this at Walmart. I have to be careful not to burn out on it like I did with Cinnamon Rolls last year. Love this scent! ScentSationals Mountain Man - from yesterday. BBW Pumpkin Pie - now on the warmer - beautiful, authentic, lovely pie crust note without being too buttery, and no longer sooting like a smokestack. Success at last with this candle, but gee whiz, now it isn't being used as a candle. . Still it smells great. Happy Monday all, from the comfort of my own house.
  22. I AM afraid to install a light fixture. I know if you throw the breaker there is no risk... Still makes me nervous! I think you are braver than/ I am! The person below me is eager for the first snow.
  23. Well good morning all!! It is beyond delightful being home, and with the knowledge that I don't travel this week....Very grateful. Michele, have you recovered from our trip? LOL I didn't realize how many miles we drove. Road Warriors!! Maggie, the Blueberry Cobbler just sounds so inviting. I have loved blueberry scent from the start. Susan, I'm very happy to hear that you have some time off - something you don't seem to have a lot of. Any special fun things going on this weekend? Debra, I hope you enjoyed your class! And I agree - sitting for long periods is not so much fun. I looked up your Scentsy melt and it sounds wonderful - I do love the tea scents. Well, I organized the new wax we picked up on our trip and actually I think we showed considerable restraint. In looking back over the pictures of the VRC shop, I keep thinking, oh, I could have picked up that...and that...and that... But there is always next time. So it's been: ScentSationals Mountain Man - I picked this up in Canada and ohhhhh it's just gorgeous. I can't find the scent notes, although I think Maggie found them before, as she is more skilled at this than I am - but I would guess there is leather, tobacco, fir tree, and mint in there....love, love, love. WoodWicks Humidor - tobacco, leather, and ambered musk - WHY do vendors put amber in everything these days? - and this is extremely strong, had to turn it off after awhile. I like the scent but I think that the amber makes it strong and perfumey. Does tobacco really need to smell like perfume?? ScentSationals Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn - I think I would have liked eating the food this was based on, but....and I don't say this too often....to my nose, this was just disgusting snd I poured it out. It smelled like nuts that had been in the cupboard for too long and old papers. Sonoma Marshmallow Candy Cane - yes, I may have been in Kohl's - this is fantastic! I may have to go back. And burning: BBW Leaves - oh, how much do I love this scent, even if it does have the dreaded Mac Apple in it....ohhhhhhhh! BBW Pumpkin Pie - love the scent but the wicks are driving me crazy...I have trimmed them every time, but this candle is a sooty mess and now the top of the wax is discolored. Ugh!! Still it's a beautiful scent. That's all folks! Have a beautiful Sunday!
  24. Good morning everyone! In the twenties Fahrenheit here in Ohio and brrrrrrrr! Susan, the green apple fragrance sounds lovely. I enjoy that scent so much. Mac Apple and I have had a falling out but I think we will reconcile next year. Maggie, I love that you melted VRC yesterday in honor of Michele's and my road trip! It was a blast - Thelma and Louise with a much better ending! Two pals who share a passion for scent and a beautiful small wax business to visit, what could be better?! Vintage Road Candles is found in the small quiet town of Alexandria, Indiana, about an hour away from Indianapolis, in an older two-story brick building. Sarah Mullanix is the owner and she has created a store that is a joy to visit and shop in. Her workshop is on the second floor (and no we didn't push to see it) and the store on the first floor, decorated so beautifully and chock-full of lovely wax. We both made good haulage and we enjoyed chatting and laughing with Sarah. She's been an indie vendor for about five years now and I'm so glad that her business is thriving. We ate lunch in the nearby diner, very tasty, an omelet for Michele and grilled chicken for me. Alexandria is not very different from the small town where I live in Ohio, but I think quite a change from the big metropolitan area where Michele lives. Just us and the chickens out here! Anyway, Michele and I had also planned to visit Lush on our shopping day, so we swung by a mall in Indianapolis and found a store which was much bigger and better-stocked than those I've visited before. We did a little damage in there as well and back on the road with us, hitting a little rush-hour traffic but not bad at all, and we were both back to our homes by early evening. I am so grateful for the friendships I've made on this board - I first met Michele about a year ago and it was very natural from the start. You just never know what gifts life is going to give you. We had a wonderful day and I look forward to more days like that with all of you. I did get more candles than melts yesterday, and mostly in holiday scents! Continuing to melt through the stash: Ava's Country Cupboard - Frosted Cupcake - very comforting. Southbound Orange Marshmallow Waffle Cone - unusual for SB but I could hardly smell this one, and it had cured for several months, really a fluke and unfortunate because it was a lovely scent. Woodwicks Wood Smoke - love this but it too could be a little stronger. BBW Hot Cocoa and Cream - you may know that this is my favorite candle. It's just everything. BBW Black Currant and Vanilla - so strong! The throw is magnificent. I have bought backups. I continue to find hit or miss results with the BBW Wallflowers. Some fill the house (Black Tea Rose) and others I can't smell hanging right over them (Apple Crumble, really too sad). Well another War and Peace installment but wanted to give you ladies the scoop on yesterday's trip. Stay warm everybody!
  25. Ahhhhhh... Yes, I do. It has been a long time.... But yes. The person below me still is close to friends from school.
