Introduction to my Mulberry Home Candle Review:

Amara is a luxury boutique based in Great Britain. Everything listed on the site has a British flair that was irresistible. It was so much fun to shop around in a boutique that has such a different feel and style than a US store has.

I made myself right at home on the Amara website. I flitted from category to category looking at all of the beautiful home accessories, kitchen wares, decorations, and of course candles. I had my eye on several different candles and accessories. There are gorgeous crystal hurricanes and candlesticks…there are even platters made from wax.

You should know that there is a currency option up at the top of the website’s home page. When I first browsed the website, I had the currency set for British pounds and I was blissfully unaware of pricing. I enjoyed feeling as if I were Amara logo, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverstraveling to Great Britain without leaving my desk. And believe me, it was quite the magic carpet ride.Yikes!! Candlefind.com, the site for candle lovers

I like to see other people’s homes and surroundings… to look at things from other points of view. When I watch foreign movies, I am always checking out the settings. Truly, I pause the DVD and look at everything in the set… kitchens are my favorite to see, everything looks so strange and interesting. To me, the details of the characters surroundings are just as interesting as the plot of the movie.

Shopping at Amara was like peeking into someone elses lifestyle. A very posh lifestyle at that. There are plenty of beautiful home wares here. While I was checking out the Amara website, I felt a little bit like Alice in Wonderland, looking through the looking glass. I had a blast checking out all of the unusual corkscrews and salt & pepper shakers…wine glasses, pillows…you name it. There is plenty of unique and stunningly beautiful eye candy here.

It was about that time when I finally caught on to the currency key and switched it over to US dollars. Suddenly, I was looking at all of the same items that had caught my eye before, but this time I was looking at the prices too. I must surely be a girl of simple tastes because I just about fell out of my chair. I had never seen a $1200 candlestick let alone purchased one.

I recognized some of the candle brands. Brands that I had previously considered to be high end like Seda France and Voluspa, were the lower priced selections on this site. The majority of candles were priced higher than what I had considered high end…much higher.

What did my Mulberry Home candle from Amara look like?

As much as I wanted to keep an open mind, I found myself influenced by the cost of this product. Before I understood the price of this travel candle, I thought it was pretty enough with a very heavy container. The candle Mulberry Home courtesy of Amara, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversarrived wrapped in brown tissue and packaged in a small dark brown gift box with the Mulberry label on it. It seemed a bit small, and I was wondering how on earth I would do an entire review with only this one sample to test.

When I discovered the price tag on this baby, I found myself looking at it much differently. Suddenly, the very weight of the heavy silver plated container became something more opulent and wondrous. The wax morphed before my very eyes from a plain, dye-free look to a creamy, luxurious white. The scent transformed from a pleasant enough floral to an intricate dance of precise scent notes all mingled together. I even held the candle differently, with more care, like a museum piece. I mean the clouds parted and sunbeams shown down on my little treasure of a candle.

I found it very hard to keep an open mind about this particular candle… so I set it aside. Time passed. From time to time I’d glance over at it sitting on the shelf near my desk. The shear monetary value of the candle was somewhat of a mystery to me and I kept looking at it trying to imagine the lifestyle in which $72 was the acceptable amount of money to pay for a 4 ounce candle. Do you see? I had a really hard time getting past the price tag and reviewing this candle for what it was.

So there it sat, and time passed.

How did my Tuberose & Geranium – Mulberry Home candle from Amara smell?

I don’t know why today felt different than any other day, but on this day I took out my little silver plated nugget of a candle and decided it was time to light this beautiful oddity.

You’ve got to be curious about these candles though. I mean, my frugalness comes into play here, and I get very skeptical about a candle that is so expensive. Does it really smell so much better than a lower priced candle? Are there special botanicals? Why does this particular wax and scent and wick cost so much more than another wax and scent and wick?

I lit it with a certain deference. Like a ceremony was taking place… the lighting of the Mulberry brand candle. I even re-read the burning instructions that were included, as if this candle might have some strange Tuberose & geranium Mulberry Home scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversritual involved in getting the maximum enjoyment from it. No… the instructions were the same as the thousands of other candle burning instructions I’ve seen over the years. Burn on a flat surface, trim the wick, keep out of reach of children… the usual.

I lit it… and sat back in my chair… waiting to see what would happen. I don’t know what I expected to happen while I watched the flame melt the wax, but I was determined not to miss a thing.

This candle scent did not have a description listed on Amara’s website, but I had a pretty good idea of what I was smelling with the Tuberose and Geranium.

This small travel did pack a nice wallop of scent for it’s size. The geranium gave it a fresh green note and the tuberose… ah, well tuberose happens to be one of my favorite floral scents, so smelling this fragrance was an absolute pleasure. The tuberose wasn’t as heavy as I’ve smelled in the past. Maybe it was tempered by the geranium in this scent. All in all, it was a lovely floral with a medium scent throw. Better than average for the size of the candle.

How did my Mulberry Home candle burn?

The Mulberry brand candle from Amara burned evenly, and cleanly and I Candle flame, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverskept the wick trimmed. The one time I blew the flame out instead of dipping the wick, I got an unpleasant smoky odor from the wick. After that, I made sure to dip the wick properly. The wax was very soft to the touch, almost scoopable. It had a good scent pool with each burn session, and my candle melted all the way to the edges of the silver plated container. I will note here that the container got very hot, and I was glad that I had placed my candle on a safe surface to begin with.

Closing to my review of a Mulberry Home candle from Arama:

To not consider the price of this candle would be like ignoring the huge polka dot elephant in the room, so I feel it’s an important factor with this product review. We are all at different stages with our financial lives, so one person may balk at the cost while another may not.

I enjoyed this candle, and I still use the keepsake silver plated container Amara luxury candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversto hold some small treasures. The scent was pleasant, and it burned well overall. I’ve been known to splurge a little on candles once in a while, and this was a treat to experience, but the cost is just too much of a leap for this frugal minded gal.

I do recommend taking a few moments to window shop at Amara. The website is really fun to see, and customer service was top notch. I just know you will find items at Amara that you won’t see anywhere else. Step through the looking glass and check out all the cool house wares in this exciting British boutique.
