Owner Alexandra hails from the great state of Florida, birthing her candle company on her mom’s dining room table. As a fun-loving creative, she wanted to create something with her hands that celebrated all the things we love about Florida. Alexandra’s candles are very natural – made with a coconut wax and infused with essential oils. She uses wooden wicks (or 100% cotton for the smaller candles) and has a select line of fragrances available on Etsy. We’ve had a great time getting to know her and what her products bring to the table.
A Closer Look at Leatherback Naturals
All of the candles at Leatherback Naturals are made with a coconut blend wax, dye-free and vegan friendly. The candles are infused with essential oils and are phthalate free. The unique fragrances tell a story about the glorious Florida lifestyle, with scent names such as Snowbirds, Beach Bonfire, and Stingray Shuffle.
Leatherback Naturals was started in my mother’s house on her dining room table (didn’t take up toooooo much space haha…) I was born in Tarpon Springs (FL) and was trying to get to the ocean even before I could walk! I wanted to find a way to give back by making something with my hands, that I could be passionate about.

Leatherback Naturals offers coconut wax candles in 3 ounce and 9 ounce sizes. The smaller, travel tin candles are created with 100% coconut wicks, whereas the larger, container candles are housed in amber jars with wooden wicks.

In The Grove
Our In The Grove candle jar was very classy looking candle – the amber jar was beautiful and different from most of the candles on our shelves. The smooth white wax and wooden wick completed the luxurious look. Once opening the jar…ooooh my! The scent of sweet orange, green notes, and a bit of eucalyptus met the nose and we were instantly in love. The burn was even more complex and fabulous – it felt like we were in the middle of an orange grove during peak season. The scent description from the website reads: Fresh orange blossom infused with invigorating bergamot and eucalyptus linger with herbal notes and sandalwood musk for a truly signature scent of Florida. Top Note: Bergamot; Heart Note: Orange Blossom, Neroli, Jasmine; Bottom Note: Sandalwood.
The candle scented up a medium room well without being overpowering. We found it had a super slow, clean burn, which was much appreciated. The wood wick added a nice touch, with that little bit of a crackling sound and instant ambiance. Overall, we were super pleased with this candle.
Overall Impression of Leatherback Naturals
We loved the candle from Leatherback Naturals – classy, elegant, and beautiful to burn. The fragrance was incredibly authentic and was pleasing to the nose without being overbearing. The all natural elements made us feel really good about what we were burning. These are candles we can see buying for our homes and also gifting to others, especially during the holiday season!
