It’s no surprise after we fawned over GP’s This Smells Like My Vagina candle that we would be eager to sniff out her next taboo candle. Goop and Heretic collaborated yet again to churn out a This Smells Like My Orgasm candle. Really? We felt obligated to follow up and see if this second candle lived up to the hype of the first. What kind of researchers would we be if we didn’t?

First Impressions of My Candle

The candle came in a decorative black box that was adorned with a fireworks display. Clever? Yes. So GP? You betcha. In any case, it made for a great first impression and would make an ever-so-wonderful gift right out the box (pun intended).

The candle itself was housed in a sleek black vessel with a simple (and large) white label on the front. You could remove the label if you wanted to, but it would take a little doing. But hey, the label is half the fun here, right?

The wax was undyed and there was a single wick that was centered well. The candle was pretty heavy in the hands, so we could tell it was very good quality.

On cold sniff, this candle was a bit warmer than the Vagina candle. Less flower-y and more zesty and spicy. An intoxicating, complex fragrance for sure. Once lit, the scent wafted well out beyond the bedroom and on down my halls. The bright, zippy notes gave way to warmer, sharp notes that lulled us into a trance. It was incredibly beautiful!

How Did My Candle Perform?

This candle took a long time to get a full wax melt pool (where the wax is melted from edge to edge). A very slow burning candle that carried a tame flame. I only had to trim the wick a little in between burns, so it was not a fussy candle at all. I never noticed any black sooting and didn’t have any on the rim of my candle vessel. With the slow burn of this candle, it lasted me a super long time.

I’d have to say that I’m falling in love with Heretic candles. Despite the obvious hooplah surrounding these particular candles, the brand makes some high quality candles that are well worth the money. The This Smells Like My Orgasm candle was another winner and one that I could see myself purchasing again. I actually liked it better than the Vagina candle. We suggest you run out and try it for yourself. If you like unique, complex fragrances, you’ll be hooked!
