  10. Good Morning! Last night's Lemon Pound Cake from Village Candle gave off a bit of a chemical smell and I wasn't getting the true value of the scent. So, I put out the flames and dug out some wax and placed it in my melter. I loved it! :P This will be a candle I melt from now on. This morning's melt is Coffee Cake & Spice from CFTKR.

  15. Sweet - Good question. The pod container is made up of some type of hard plastic, so I never attempted to place one on a standard 24 watt melter. So this afternoon I placed an empty pod container directly on the heating plate of one of my 24 watt melters and watched it carefully to make sure it didn't begin to melt. The diameter of the pod is smaller than the heating plate of my standard melter so a portion of the heating plate was exposed. But, the pod did just fine. So next I placed a full pod container directly on the heating plate of the same melter. Again, no problem. The wax melted nicely, but somewhat faster than with the GC warmer. So it seems you can put the pods on a standard 24 watt melter. I don't know if the GC warmers are quite 24 watts because mine do not include wattage info. Without that information I am unsure as to how long the scent will be dispersed on a standard melter. By the way, my Coconut Mango Breeze pod just fizzled out after a total of 24 hrs. over several days. Now I'm melting Nene's - Blueberry Lemon Loaf. Yummy!
  16. Debra & Sweet - The Gold Canyon scent pods weigh 2.4 oz and cost $5.98 each. The diameter of the pod is 3" and the depth of the wax in the pod is 1". So you basically are getting a 3" by 1" tart. You do not remove the wax from the pod. You simply remove the lid from the pod and place the pod, container and all, on the GC pod warmer. All the wax in the pod will melt so you have a real nice melt pool. GC recommends you melt for a minimimum of 4 hrs. The new warmers have timers on them so you can set the timer for 4, 8 or 12 hrs. When you are done melting you turn off the warmer and let the wax harden. Then put the lid back on the pod and store it away until you want to melt it again. GC states that the scent will last for up to 20 hrs. In my experience the scent begins to weaken at about 16 hrs. and lasts for approx. 20 hrs. The throw is about the same as a candle and sometimes better. I generally purchase scent pods to try a scent I'm not sure about. I would buy them again for the same purpose. Would I buy them just to melt vs. burn? Probably not because the candles are more economical and I often melt the candles. I do keep a few pods on hand for use when I don't want to mess with burning/melting candles or with changing out tarts, like when you have a get-together or party at your house . Another plus - the pods stack very nicely. The warmers are pricey but I had the pleasure of winning one at an open house my demonstrator had at her home. I bought another one on ebay and thought I got a pretty good deal. I hope this is helpful.
  17. Gail - It's 100 here in Upland as well. You are on a cooling trend!
  18. sweet&spiceygrl - My birdbath has been quite busy too, but I generally don't put my hiney in it. ladylcl3 - How do you like VC - Lemon Pound Cake? I ordered one, like the cold smell, but I haven't burned it yet. Gail - It is a hot one here. I just can't imagine what it is like by you. I'm melting: GC Scent Pods - Cucumber Melon in the LR (fresh) GC Scent Pods - Coconut Mango Breeze in the FR (tropical) I purchased the scent pods to try these scents before investing in a candle. I'm not much into fresh scents although Cucumber Melon is very pleasant. Coconut Mango Breeze is a great summer scent. I can really smell the coconut.
