  1. I am one of the rare Yankee lovers, but that scent was definately an issue. I bought several tarts and a candle and I returned them because of poor throw. They smell nice cold, but that's about it. I will say that the 2 other scents that came out at the same time are wonderful - they are Cider Donut and Shortbread Cookie. I love them both. Cider Donut has a moderate throw and Shortbread has a strong throw and the tarts for both are even better, in my experience, anyway. But Coconut Cookie Bar?!? Definately not one of their grand performers...
  2. Jason ~ Make sure you drop a line to Yankee Customer Service or give them a call to complain about the low wattage burner. Several of us from all over the country have written, so they are getting an earful ~ the more the better!!!! I LOVE the Yankee burners as they are beautiful ~ but not nearly as functional as they should be. My herb garden burner is doing ok and I won't be returning it, but it could surely be doing a lot better!
  3. Jersey ~ Just curious about that 12W melter ~ Does it really work well with the tart pan? The reason I ask is that there is a Yankee burner on eBay that is 12W and it is a perfect match for my kitchen. I would love to purchase it, but I'm also realistic in that the 12W burners are not very effective. If the tart pan solves that problem, I may go ahead and bid on it anyway. Also ~ where did you get the tart pan? I don't recall although I know it was discussed... Boogie ~ I love YC Dune also. The only place I've seen it is at BB&B. I know that Yankee sometimes produces a scent or 2 for this chain and Linens & Things, that is different from their own line. That said, I am sure I'll purchase more of this scent. It's a winner!
  4. I think I'm going to join in this event also! I've never done anything like this before, so it will be a new adventure for me~
  5. I have Aroma Soy's Vaniglia del Madagascarin the kitchen - lovely cold sniff, but I'm not getting more than a light throw on melting. In the living room is Water Garden by YC. I really, really like this one in both the candle and the tart, and my family doesn't complain about it. That's always a bonus! In the bedroom is YC's Queen Anne's Lace. This is one of my favorite YC scents, but unfortunately, it was discontinued a couple of years ago, so unless I buy it on ebay, this is my last candle. I do have about 6 tarts left. It has an excellent throw - covers a lto of area but is not overwhelming in any one place. It's an interesting scent. You would expect a floral, but it has vanilla notes for sure, along with some type of light herbal/floral something. The bathroom isn't going yet, but it will be a blue for Boogie and her dad, and whomever else is in need of the blue today.
  6. Cyn ~ That independent scent sounds like something I would like. Where did you get it again? Also ~ I have also been on a search for the perfect vanilla. Of course, each of us could have something different in mind when we think of perfect vanilla~ However, I wanted to recommend 2 that I found that are pretty close to perfect with a great throw and longevity. They are Vanilla on Steroids by AromaSoy and NeNe's Creamy Vanilla. I know that I will be purchasing a stock of both of those when I do a reorder!
  7. That is a gorgeous burner and just my style! I will be passing by a big Yankee store tomorrow on my way to my case... I surely don't need another burner... I do not NEED another burner... but I want another burner.... I wish I coudl find one that matches my kitchen. I haven't been successful yet. I'm looking for something that will go with a nice medium blue and yellow pattern - Pfaltzgraff Summer Breeze if anyone is familiar with that. Any suggestions of hidden out of the way places to look? I've been to all the better known ones online....
  8. Jason ~ I really like Greenhouse, and interestingly, I don't find it strong or overwhelming! I find it amazing how our noses all perceive differently. I have a difficult time tolerating many of the scents that are raved about, simply because they DO seem strong and overwhelming to me. Many florals are that way, although I love the smell of fresh flowers when I walk in the house. I love Macintosh by the way, and Lemon Lavender is one of my mother's favorite scents. I like it too, but I find it very strong. We may all like tarts, but we are all different, that's for sure!
  9. Started out with NeNe's Cake Batter in the kitchen - great scent, but it pretty much pooped out in about 3 hours. Instead of dumping it, I let the tea light go on and started up CHC's Hot Apple Pie in another burner. Then I finally did dump teh Cake Batter and started up CHC's Bear Claw just now. YC's Greenhouse is in the living room and I have a White Barn Four Leaf Clover candle in the bathroom. I love that scent, but I do believe it is discontinued. In the bedroom I have CHC's Birthday Cake and it's still going strong since around 2pm. This one has the most staying power for tarts today - nice scent too, but the best BD cake so far that I've had is from Candle Haven.
  10. Well.... Because curiosity got the better of me... I did some checking on eBay. It appears that at minimum, she received eBay orders on February 9th and buyers have already left positive feedback for her on February 21st - which means not only did they receive their orders by February 21st, but they had also had time to try them out. Chances are, the buyers recieved their orders at least a day or 2 prior to the 21st. She in turn has taken the time to leave feedback for those buyers. I know that eBay has a system whereas one can leave "automatic" feedback for the buyer as soon as the buyer leaves feedback for the seller, but her feedback comments appear to be individualized, not automated. My initial suspicion is correct. She is promptly filling eBay orders as they come in and filling orders from her regular site when she has time in between. Very poor business ethics, regardless of the quality of her product. I had seriously considered placing an order with her at a less busy time, but given this information, I think her customers here are owed an honest apology for the manner in which she has handled this. I don't expect anyone to receive an apology however, as buyers here are obviously not a priority for her. I apologize in advance if I upset anybody more than they already are.
  11. I am very glad, at this point, that I chose to cancel my order. As far as eBay goes... I can pretty much guarantee that she would be filling eBay orders before any others. EBay recently changed it's feedback system (it either already has or will shortly go into effect) whereas a seller cannot refute a buyer's feedback. The purpose for this is to get more accurate feedback from buyers since they will no longer fear retaliation from the seller. As a result, sellers MUST be on their toes or permanently risk lost business. Here, there is no long term feedback system for independent buyers to go by. If she loses a few sellers here, it will have less impact over time than if she loses her high feedback rating on eBay. The new feedback system is actually an excellent idea, in my opinion, but it is quite possibly impacting the Super Bowl orders. What she may be doing, re: completing eBay orders first, makes sense from a business standpoint - it doesn't make it right, however. I would also be concerned about a possible lapse in quality with such high volume. It's only human to rush when overwhelmed. I don't doubt for a minute that she normally has an excellent product, but if I choose to order from her in the future, it will either be through eBay or when she is less busy.
  12. I'm trying out my new Nene order today ! In the kitchen, there is Cherry Flip Cupcake - just started it, so I'm not sure about it yet. In the bathroom, I have her Clean D'Lish... also just started. In the living room I have Carnation by Cheryl's Candles. This is probably a reorder as I like florals - but not the overwhelming and in your face kind. This one is very authentic with just the right throw. Smells like I have a fresh bouquet of flowers! :P In the bedroom, I am on the 2nd tealight of Lavender Cream by Cheryl's candles. This is a DEFINATE reorder - and one of my very favorite scents thus far since joining this board and ordering from everyone under the sun! I can't quite describe the scent. It's more than just lavender and cream I'll tell ya. Whatever it is, I REALLY like it!
  13. Jason ~ You were actually doing me a favor by taking my tarts ~ I can't get any more until I find a place for the ones I have!!! Seriously.... I didn't consider you a "tart charity" case... I ws more than happy - still am - to send you some goodies that probably won't find themselves melting away in my home... would be nice for them to melt away in SOMEONE'S home!!! If you change your mind... drop me a line!
  14. Jason ~ I have a handful of tarts that you are welcome to also. I have more than I could use in a year's time and many that I have I didn't particularly care for - but you certainly may!~ I have an envelope here waiting for your address, so email me!
  15. Welcome! It's great to have another lover of good scents among us!
  16. Jason ~ I'm so happy that someone else is enjoying Water Garden as much as I do! I absolutely LOVE the scent. I find that it blends well with many other things, but especially YC's Midnight Jasmine. I even melt them together in the same bowl and it's doubly good! My blues for eveyone needing it today are CanDo's Seaside Memories in the bedroom and Ocean MIst in the bathroom, and Village Candle's Blue Hydrangea in the living room. In the kitchen I'm melting Ambrosia from Cheryl's - I really, really like this scent - not at all what I was expecting - but even better!
  17. I recently received my first order from her. She has exceptional customer service and I was quite surprised at her attention to detail. I had let her know that I actually prefer the lighter scents and she offered to customize some of her scents for me! I purchased a variety of singles since I am pretty new to the tart thing and I have been very pleased. Some I've liked much more than others, but not due to quality but rather my personal tastes. She included several sample scents and also a small candle so I could see her product. I wouldn't hesitate to order again.
  18. The kitchen has Vanilla Velvet from Cheryls - great cold throw, but not so much when melted... will probably add something to it, may something strawberry or peach.. The living room has green Garden Herb, one of YC's new spring scents. The throw is perfect on this one and would blend nicely with a light floral. I'm on the second tart for Aqua Di Gio from Cheryl's in the bathroom The bedroom is where I have been "experimenting" lately... Tonight it's Bamboo Cabin from CHC. I like this one. It's probably far too mild for many of you but it's a perfect strength for me. I can't quite decide what it smells like other than it has a hint of freshly made tea somewhere in there.
  19. In my opinion, for the 2 cents it might be worth... She needs to stop even trying to fill orders for one day. Then she needs to sit down and email every single person from whom she has an order and let each person know where she is with their order ~ this, along with a humbled apology for failing to anticipate the overload she received. She needs to give an honest outlook for her situation, and offer one of two alternatives: First, the option to continue waiting for the order, which will completed in the order in which it was received with consideration to the promptness of the customer's reply. Second, she needs to offer the option to withdraw the order and to receive a refund. The inability for one person to handle this massive ordering spree is understood. What is not understood from the customer's perspective, is the failure to communicate. Communication makes all the difference in the world and would go far to salvedge the loss of trust tht she is rapidly accumulating.
  20. I just received the refund I requested this morning. There were no comments at all, and I agree that she is probably totally overwhelmed. I know that I would be, for sure! Anyway, I sent her a nice email to thank her for getting the refund out promptly. I also told her that I am still interested in trying her product but that I will wait until things settle down a bit.
  21. As soon as I walked in the door, I began my routine of lighting tea lights and turning on melters! In the kitchen I have Snickerdoodle from Cheryl's. Also from Cheryls in the bathroom is AquaDiGio - very nice scent and probably a reorder. Snickerdoodle is nice too, but lighter than I expected. I think I prefer AromaSoy's Snickerdoodle to this one. In the living room I have Hydrangea by CanDo - starts out very strong, but settled into a nice and just right scent after about 2 hours yesterday and I'm on my 3rd tea light now. In the bedroom, I am melting Butterfly Kisses by Lookout Mtn. Candles. I like this scent also. This is the first tart I have tried from this company. I'll need to try a few more before I decide whether I'll do a reorder.
  22. I emailed her around 8am and I am hoping to hear from her sometime today or this evening. I would consider that reasonable, particularly if she has many emails to answer. As I made reference to earlier, I may well order again in the future, but this order was just bad timing. As long as I receive a reasonably timely response and refund, I will consider it "no harm, no foul."
  23. Boogie ~ I wrote her early this morning and very politely asked for a refund. I don't know how to be any other way, especially via email and message boards. It's far too easy to misconstrue intent when there are only words and no sound or body language to further convey meaning. I absolutely do understand how a small business can be overwhelmed because of a board such as this, and I may choose to try her again at another time, but at this point, I have found other etailers that I would like to try and I really don't want to wait any longer. I hope to hear from her sometime today.
  24. Slpit ~ A question for you ~ I see you mentioned having gotten something from Northfield Road. I udnerstand there is a free shipping coupon for 2/28 from a newsletter. I singed up for it but haven't gotten it. Do you, per chance, have the code for the free shipping? I am intrigued by her scent descriptions and he fact that many are hers exlusively. I would loe to try an order and free shipping makes it all worthwhile! And to everyone ~ Some of you have mentioned a "Little Box" or "Little Black Box" or something like that. May I be nosey and ask what's up with that? Is this something that I NEED!?!? ... and if so, how do I get it?
  25. I have not received an unsolicited refund. Really, all I wanted was a bit of communication. There were actually a couple of very acceptable options to handle her overload. First, she could have stopped taking orders when she realized it was at the point of not being able to provicde good customer service. Secondly, she could have sent out a mass email to customers explaining her predicament. littleshells, I believe it was you that stated that many people would not have gone to her site to see the message and that is true. I didn't even know there was a message there until someone mentioned it a couple of days ago. I really am very, very tolerant, particularly when I am expecting a quality product. That's why I chose not to email her. I figured the more emails she received, the more time it was taking away from actually accomplishing the task. I, too, would rather have the product, but good customer service is a huge part of the big picture and that part has me very disappointed.
