Intro To My Candle Review

While we cover a number of big name candle companies here on Candlefind, our goal and mission has always been to help consumers discover possibly new-to-them candle companies. Small mom and pop shops that make products that are just as good (and, in some cases, even better) as the big boys. That’s why I was overjoyed to try out a new soy candle company, Sweet Tooth Scents, found on Etsy. They make a variety of good smelling scents that won’t add inches to your waistline. First up is our Dazed and Confused candle review.

First Impressions of My Candle

This particular candle was their large mason jar style (16 ounces) and was layered with 3 scents: Sweet Tooth Scents Dazed And Confused Triple Layer Candle BurningFruit Loops (purple), Fizzy Pop (green), and Juicy Fruit (yellow). It was very colorful and soooo pretty! The candle had a tag label that was secured with a band, and that is where I could tell what scents were included. The actual candle label did not have the scents listed out, but the scent name (Dazed & Confused) and company name were clearly displayed. You could remove the label if you wanted, using a little bit of elbow grease. However, I didn’t find the label intrusive at all, so I left mine in place. I did remove the tag before burning, which I do recommend.

The candle had a black, screw-top lid. Pretty standard fare for a mason jar candle. I also noted a single wick that was well centered. I knew I wouldn’t be able to smell all three scents on cold sniff here, but I did take a whiff of the top layer. Mmmmm…fruity and sweet! I knew I was going to love this! I was unable to get the scent descriptions directly from the Etsy shop, but I was able to find them on their Facebook page:

Fruit Loops: No kid (or adult) can forget the smell of a fresh bowl of those colorful, fruity loops in the morning

Fizzy Pop: Top notes of fresh lemon and lime followed by green, slightly rosy middle notes with sweet vanilla bottom notes. You can really smell the effervescence!

Juicy Fruit: It’s reminiscent of the iconic gum. It has a complexity all of its own, made of banana, peach, lemon, orange, and pineapple. Yumm!

Sweet Tooth Scents

I was getting the fruity notes of Juicy Fruit on the top. It didn’t really smell like the gum to me, but it did smell fruity-delicious.

I decided to light this candle in my master bedroom to keep a close eye on it and see what it could do. It didn’t take long before I got the sweet, fruity aroma coming from this candle. It was pure fruity bliss! I could smell the citrusy notes and the hints of sweetness from the pineapple. Delicious! I don’t think I could pick out the peach or banana notes – not individually anyway. It all blended well and smelled fantastic.

After the yellow (Juicy Fruit) burned down, I could smell the change with Fizzy Pop (the green layer). This scent was also sweet and citrusy, but it had an element of fizziness to it that the first layer didn’t have. It was more energizing and absolutely mouthwatering. My last layer (purple) was Fruit Loops, and this certainly smelled like I expected…just like the Froot Loops cereal! This was more a mix of lemon/lime with what seemed like some hints of cherry and sweet vanilla. It reminded me of Swan Creek’s Saturday Morning Cereal & Milk. Mmmmm – I was looking for a spoon!

Sweet Tooth Scents Dazed And Confused Triple Layer Candle Burning

All three scents had a moderately strong scent (with Fizzy Pop being the strongest of the 3) and the candle had a very good scent throw. I was able to smell the candle as it was in my master bedroom and on down into the hallways. It was not overpowering but definitely strong enough and thoroughly enjoyable.

How Did My Candle Perform?

This candle performed flawlessly. I started the candle with an Illumalid, but I’m not even sure that it was necessary. I did get a full wax melt pool in a relatively short period of time. The melt pool was fairly deep (and beautiful, I might add!) and even – no wasted wax on the sides of the jar. My flame stayed large but manageable. I didn’t notice any black sooting.

This candle was also a slooooow burner. It seemed like it took forever to get to each next layer! The stated burn time is 80-100+ hours, and I definitely got around 100 hours with mine. That makes the purchase price very reasonable.

Closing To My Candle Review

I had a blast with my Dazed & Confused candle from Sweet Tooth Scents. It was a beautifully layered candle that looked oh-so-pretty while burning. The scents were similar but different enough to be able to tell when the next layer started burning. I was impressed with the nice, clean burn and the longevity – wow! I can’t wait to try other products from this particular company. Stay tuned for our reviews!
