Intro To My Candle Review

We’ve already been impressed with HomeLight Candles because they offer up some affordable, high quality candles in beautiful, keepsake vessels. For example, their Rosewood Macaron candle was a huge hit, with its vessel and gorgeous scent. That’s why I was excited to learn about their new line of gothic scented candles. The MASPRIV line currently includes 5 distinctly masculine type scents in handsome stainless steel vessels that have a lid that doubles as an ashtray. The specific candle we reviewed is the Mahogany Teakwood (Crucifix) candle.

First Impressions of My Candle

This candle is simply gorgeous. Handsome, even. It comes gift boxed with a large, ornate crucifix on the front of the black box. Inside I found the stainless steel candle with the same design boldly on the front and a notched lid that, indeed, doubles as an ashtray. When the lid is placed on top of the candle, it looks like the top of a castle. Turn it upside down and it acts as sort of a flame guard while the candle is burning. We tried it both ways & loved the look equally.

The wax is off white and there is a single wick for these candles. The entire vibe was moody and somewhat masculine.
Scent Notes-Top: Bergamot, Cinnamon Leaves, Frankincense; Heart: Cedarwood, Black Tea, Mahogany; Base: Musk, Patchouly, Ciste, Labdanum

The smell was distinctly remininsent of the famous Bath & Body Works’ version. It was masculine and a bit earthy with a certain spice to it that made it sexy and warm. I am always afraid of patchouli notes, but this was blended well together and wasn’t offputting to me.

How Did My Candle Perform?

After trimming the wick a bit before lighting, I left this candle burning in a medium sized room to get the feel for it’s scent and throw. The candle burned evenly and incredibly clean. There was no black soot that I noted. I did burn this candle both with the ashtray lid and without. After it had burned down some, I also tried it with a Yankee Candle Illuma-Lid which was a perfect fit.

Closing To My Candle Review

I absolutely loved this Crucifix (Mahogany Teakwood) candle from HomeLights! It is incredibly handsome and affordable, with a clean burn and beautiful fragrance. It is a slow-burning, candle, too, which makes for added value. HomeLights has once again hit it out of the park. I look forward to exploring the rest of this MASPRIV line!
