We’ve been meaning to get some reviews up for Homesick Candles, as they are one of the most relatable brand name candles around. When we saw that they teamed up with Budweiser for this Budweiser Backyard BBQ Candle, we knew we had to get our little hands on this candle. We did order one and got it pretty fast in our hot little hands. Now it’s time for us to spill our guts to let you know just what we thought of this collab candle.

Packaging/Presentation
The box that our Budweiser Backyard BBQ candle came in was perfect for the scent. It displayed a scene that conjured up everything fun about a backyard get-together. Of course, there was an ice bucket full of ice cold Budweiser in on corner of the box. The name was clearly displayed on the front of the box, as well as the company name and the Budweiser logo.
The soy blend candle itself was in their typical glass jar with a simple, large label on the front. There is no lid or dust cover for the candle, so it would be best to keep it boxed up when not in use. There was a single wick that was well-centered, and the wax was off-white in color. No dyes added!
Authenticity
Cold sniff on my Budweiser Backyard BBQ candle was fabulous! I had in my head a scent of lemonade and watermelon. What I smelled on cold sniff was definitely the scent of lemonade but so, so much more. There was a smokiness to it that I wasn’t quite expecting and, of course, the wheat/barley notes that would conjure up notions of a cold one. It seemed the lemonade was blended in and took more of a backseat. Looking at the scent notes:

Ahhh…it all made sense now! Once the candle was lit, I was able to get the full complexity of this fragrance. The lemonade notes seemed to linger in the air and were sweet, bright and zesty. The fragrance was well grounded with the heavier notes, though – the barley, amber and musk notes seemed to predominate. This was not a beer-scented candle in the least. It was more of an earthy, musk type of fragrance with just enough of the other notes to make it unique and so, so enjoyable.
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
The cold sniff on my Budweiser Backyard BBQ candle was on the light side. I had it unboxed for a bit on my kitchen table, and I wasn’t greeted with any unlit fragrance when walking by. However, once I lit the candle, I was pleasantly surprised that it packed a better punch than expected. I kept it in a small bathroom and it had a moderately strong scent to me. The scent throw was pretty good, as I could smell it out past the bathroom and on down the hall the longer that I had it burning.
Burn Performance
The burn on this candle was flawless. I was able to get a full wax melt pool in a relatively short period of time. There was no wasted wax on the sides. The flame was manageable and didn’t require a whole lot of maintenance – I just needed to trim my wick in between burns, easy peasy. I did not notice any black sooting with this candle.
Conclusion
We are absolutely thrilled that we were able to try out the Budweiser Backyard BBQ candle from Homesick Candles. As expected from this brand, the scent was complex and the burn was candle perfection. We could see gathering up a few of these and lighting them at our next company outing.
