Intro To My Wax Melt Review
True story: I hate shopping in Walmart. It’s too much…everything. But I was really glad when Walmart stores started carrying some Yankee Candle products. Sure, the selection is limited, but it’s made my Walmart shopping trips a little more bearable. I’ve been especially drawn to the clamshell style wax melts they carry – long oval shaped packages with six “cups” inside. Leave it to Yankee to do something a little bit different. Lemon Lavender is one of my all-time favorites from this company, so I snapped it up when I saw it on my local Walmart shelf.
First Impressions of My Wax Melt
The wax melts were in the clamshell style package seen above. The packaging seemed a little wasteful, but that’s the way these wax melts come that are in Walmart. The cover showed a picture of a basket of lemons with a sprig of lavender nearby. I loved the pastel purple color of the melts themselves – it reminded me of Spring.
The cold sniff was just as I expected – a sharp citrusy scent, true to the Lemon Lavender I’m used to purchasing directly from Yankee Candle. The cold sniff was pretty strong, so I was hopeful!

How Did My Wax Melt Perform?
I used one of the cups in my electric melter (24W) and it didn’t take long to start smelling the tangy lemon. It was sooooo fresh, crisp, and clean – invigorating! The lavender added just the hint of sweetness it needed to keep it from being too harsh. As it continued to melt, the lemon mellowed a bit and the whole scent was more soothing. I think that was the vanilla starting to come through. I never did smell much in the way of spices with my nose.
This is one of those scents where there is a distinct difference between the scent strength and the scent throw. The strength was on the milder side, whereas the scent throw was excellent. I could smell the crispness of this scent all throughout the lower level while I had this one in the melter.
I will say the scent fizzled faster than I would have liked. I got a good day’s worth of scent from the one cup, but it had played out by the time I tried to melt it again the next day. Bummer!
Closing To My Wax Melt Review
Scent strength I would rate as 3.5/5 and throw was definitely 5/5. I’m downgrading performance a little bit (4/5) because I would have liked it to last longer, especially considering the price. This is a great fresh, bright, clean scent if you like that sort of thing. It’s not too in-your-face, either, so I think it would work for a lot of people. It’s hit or miss if you can find this particular scent at your local Walmart, and they currently aren’t selling it online. Still, this was the same scent that’s carried online by Yankee Candle, so you can always pick it up there.
