Whew! It’s been a busy past few months. I wanted to take the time, though, to spread the word about recent Candlefind changes and what you can expect in the future.
A Little History
Candlefind was the birth-child of Carolyn O’Conner, who started the site in 2003 as a way for candle lovers to share their experiences, good and bad, specifically about candles. Christina Rylan soon joined her as a reviewer and, as the site grew, she eventually took over the site and made it her own. Christina has been at the helm of Candlefind since 2007. The love and dedication that Christina has had for the site has been evident throughout the years. She has truly made Candlefind what it is today. I have been her partner-in-scented crime for more years than I can count. As she has now branched out into other things, I was fortunate enough to acquire the site from her and hope to continue on with Candlefind’s original intent and mission.
What’s Changing
Candlefind is about reviews and helping our fellow scent lovers share their experiences with various candle companies, both large and small. Part of the Candlefind difference has always been the honest, unbiased reviews that we share. We will not be veering from this mission whatsoever.
I do envision some growth for the company and, with growth there are changes. We will do our best to keep the disruptions as minimal as possible, but please do be patient with us as we complete this transformation.
Some of the most important/upcoming changes are:
New Site Design & Layout
Although you’ve probably already noticed some changes, expect to see some more over the next several weeks. The layout will be different than what you see today but will allow for easy access to some of the new features we are planning.
Newsletters
We are consolidating down to one monthly newsletter, with the addition of occasional mailings for announcements. This means, for now, the Review Flicker 
has formally been retired. We are expecting near-daily reviews posting on site, and we don’t want to flood your inbox. If you were previously subscribed to the Review Flicker, you will automatically receive the monthly newsletter. There is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, should you decide you no longer wish to be subscribed.
Monthly Giveaway
With the return of the monthly newsletter, we will also be resuming a regular monthly giveaway. The prize will vary each month, with the next month’s prize announced in each monthly newsletter. Further details about the monthly giveaway with official rules will be coming in the next few days.
Review Panel
We will be bringing on some new reviewers over the next few months. They will be posting here as well as helping grow our social media reach. We will introduce them to you as they come on board.
Keeping It Local
As a small business, Candlefind has a special place in its heart for other small business owners. We will be featuring even more small candle companies, including our own roving reporter to highlight some of the local legends across the country.
Subscription Box Service
One of our most exciting upcoming projects will be a curated, monthly subscription box service. We will hand-pick items to include in our boxes, to help gain exposure to some of the companies and products we know and love. We will have options for a wax melt box, standard candle box, and a premium box (which will contain luxury products). We expect that service to launch in Spring 2020 so stay tuned.
Repurposing of Candle Scoop
Candle Scoop was a spin-off blog associated with Candlefind. It started off with primarily wax melt reviews and then we had plans for a company directory. After much consideration, we’ve decided that Candle Scoop will be repurposed as one of the perks for our upcoming subscription box service. For now, access to Candle Scoop is closed, but it will reopen password-protected with exclusive discounts, reviews, and in-depth articles once our subscription box service launches.
What’s Not Changing
Our commitment to you to remain transparent and honest in our reviews will never change.
