First impression of Island Hideaway:
The moment I popped off the lid to sniff this candle, I literally took a deep inhale and smiled. This candle smelled SOOOO good!!!! A fresh tropical scent I wanted to wrap myself in. I have to say though… this scent smelled very familiar and it took me a day or so to figure it out. This scent reminded me of Coconut Leaves, another popular scent from Bath & Body Works. They both have different scent descriptions but I swear they smell extremely similar. Same tart coconut vibe. Regardless, I loved the scent. I loved Coconut Leaves the second I smelled it and now Island Hideaway falls in the same category. A fresh coconut summer scent.
Here is the scent description for Island Hideaway:
Fresh sea salt, coconut water, lush rainforest cedar.
This candle smelled so much more than that description but of those three elements, I smelled coconut water the most with fresh sea salt coming in second. Rainforest cedar? I have no idea what that could be. It can’t be a classic masculine cedar since there was nothing masculine about this aroma. To me, this was a fresh and tart coconut with a perfect touch of saltiness. Just based off cold sniff, I loved it.
Time to light my candle.
I lit Island Hideaway in my master bedroom to start out and that’s where it stayed till the last drop of wax. The wicks lit right up and a melt pool formed pretty quickly, and the fragrance… loved!! The aroma wafting through my bedroom smelled like a coconut daiquiri with lots of sugar and tartness. Coconut definitely stood out the most and boy was it fresh. The strength – perfect. The fragrance from this candle filled my bedroom, open bathroom and was even spilling into my great room. It smelled like coconut slushie, sugar and sweet tarts. I could totally see myself sipping this drink as I lounged by a tropical beach.
Strength – I would rate Island Hideaway a 10 out of 10 in any size room. It wasn’t headache inducing strong but you definitely knew it was there.
How did my Island Hideaway candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues which made me very happy. I loved this scent so much, I wanted to enjoy every second of it and I did. Clean burning from beginning to end. A+
Closing to my review:
Island Hideaway may be my favorite tropical scents from Bath & Body Works this year. I loved everything about it. It was coconut – my favorite! It was fresh, tart and tangy and made me breath in and smile every time I walked into my bedroom. Definitely give this scent a sniff next time you’re in a Bath & Body Works store. It’s a winner.
