Intro To My Wax Melt Review
I’ve not been a seasonal melter in the past, but I’ve found myself lately wanting more Fall & wintery scents lately. I’ve recently been in Louisiana for work, so maybe it’s the heat. Whew! In any case, I found these great sounding melts while out shopping one day – Golden Myrrh from Swan Creek Candle Company. I have fallen in love with their drizzle melts in the past, so I was excited to try this one. These wax melts are HUGE – another reason I love them so. A whole 5.25 ounces of wax.
First Impressions of My Wax Melt
This was a huge clamshell type of melt, classified as “Herbal Melts.” I’d only tried the bakery drizzle melts before, so I wasn’t quite so sure what to expect on these. I took a cold sniff and got woodsy and earthy. Not my typical scent preference, but nice.

That really didn’t give me much of an actual scent description. Sounded nice, but I was still at a loss for what to expect. I’ve smelled scents that have myrrh as one of the fragrances, and I would describe those scents as earthy and warm. Feeling I was on the right track, it was time to get to melting!
How Did My Wax Melt Perform?
I used this wax melt in a number of ways. First, I put one of the large cubes into a 24W bulb melter in a guest bedroom. I left it for about 30 minutes and returned to a soft, earthy kind of scent in the room. It smelled a little like freshly tilled dirt. I also thought I smelled a little bit of woodsy-ness as it continued to melt. Like the bark of a tree woodsy-ness. BUT the main thing that I noticed was the light scent. Super light. I could tell it was going in the bedroom, but I think only because I knew it was warming. If I got up close to the melter, I could definitely tell it was going. But who wants to stand right next to the melter all day??? Not me.
Later I tried using 2 cubes in a 20W hotplate melter. I didn’t get much better results. I tried a tealight melter in a larger space and…same results. Bummer.
I can’t really tell you when it fizzled because it wasn’t putting out much scent to begin with.
Closing To My Wax Melt Review
Meh. I wasn’t impressed. I love Swan Creek and their drizzle melts, but not this one. The scent wasn’t my favorite, but I could still appreciate the scent itself. That wasn’t my disappointment here. My disappointment was with the scent strength and throw itself. No matter what type of melter I used or how many cubes I used. Total sadness. Since this was such a large wax melt, I was able to try it many times. It’s not something I would repurchase myself. But if you like woodsy/earthy scents, you’d probably like this one. Just be prepared for a super light scent.
