  1. I finally have time to post today! Unfortunately, it's because my daughter is home sick. I have 2 Weight Watchers meeings to lead on Thursdays so I'm missing those, but if I have to be stuck at home at least it's cold and rainy today - the perfect day for melting and burning (which I also haven't had much time for lately). So after putting on a crock pot of potato cheese soup for later, I started melting Can-Do's Blue Spruce and just lit a YC Sparkling Cinnamon candle. I'm contemplating a mug of hot chocolate or tea for a little online wax shopping in a bit too!
  2. I was wondering where you were, jerseymom Impressive willpower indeed.
  3. Have been melting YC's Home Sweet Home this afternoon.... a definite classic, IMO.
  4. candlelove, As a lifetime member and now a WW meeting leader, I vote 'yes' - try again! Cat - Way to go, girl!!! It is absolutely life changing taking that weight off. Gosh, I don't think I've been here since Christmas?? Can't remember. So just in case, a belated Happy New Year to everyone!! I'm burning a small GC candle my son got for me at a holiday vendor fair in Gingerbread House. Just a little of it left to go and I'm trying to decide if I want to order from the company again. I had forgotten how strong they are.
  5. Mmmmm - Finally got the exact right combo I have been looking for this season! I'm melting Can-Do's Christmas Tree in a tealight melter, and also burning YC's Mistletoe (2-wick tumbler). For some reason those both working together in the room are putting me in Holiday Heaven!! I'm working a little extra today so in my office I'm burning a Bayberry candle from CHC, and upstairs melting her Mistletoe (leftover from last night). With all 3 of my favorite holiday/tree scents going together, sipping my hot cocoa while I type, and listening to the kids in the other room popping popcorn and watching 'The Santa Clause' - I feel thoroughly in the mood for Christmas now. (Except the popcorn scent is now taking over - grrr.)
  6. Trep - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my dear friend Sending huge birthday wishes your way for a wonderful, wonderful day....... Now for wax: Today I'm melting GHBT's Christmas Tree (SUPER strong in a 14-watt melter) and burning Pure Scents 'Oh Christmas Tree.' Everything is doing well and it smells just fantastic and festive in my house at the moment. Working for a couple of hours now until it's time to go grab the kids from school - the official start to winter break!
  7. Currently melting Santa's Whiskers from Tuscadero's - YUM! Stronger than I expected since I think there is some vanilla in there.
  8. Busy week here - I'm glad it's half over! In between 'events' today I"m melting CHC's Christmas Tree, burning O'Christmas Tree from Pure Scents and upstairs I"m melting Winterberry Wreath from CHC. Have a great night!
  9. tunisianswife: I can tell you Gold Canyon candles are strong usually. Those are actually the candles that got me started in wax in the first place. Until I bought one from a friend who was selling them (and honestly didn't care much about them I was just trying to help her out) I had never smelled something so strong and wonderful. Holiday Wreath was my first candle and it made the whole house smell like I was standing on a Christmas tree lot. I think it spoiled me for every other candle since then because I think I've been chasing that scent strength ever since! Haven't bought one in forever, BUT, we were just at a vendor fair this morning and my son bought me one for Christmas from the GC girl who was seling there (I wasn't supposed to know but his sister blabbed So I'm anxious to try them out again. The price is really reasonable for such strong scent, I can tell you that. And they are very pretty burning - though I did have some issues with soot if the wicks weren't kept pretty short. So now for my wax today: Melting YC Christmas Cupcake, burning YC Mistletoe and also burning Candles Made From Soy Christmas Morning. It's cold in the desert today so I'm enjoying the candles a lot - even though I'm stuck working for the afternoon
  10. Ahhh.....Kids are in school, I don't have any meetings today. I do have to work a couple of hours but from home so I can't complain, and the pool repair guy is coming later. It's actually a little cold here today which is nice this time of year at least. So, I grabbed an eggnog latte from Starbucks, I have lit my candles, started my melters and am going to put on Christmas music (either the Charlie Brown Christmas album or my favorite - Neil Diamond Christmas) and........clean house Burning Pure Scents Christmas Tree, melting Can-Do's Christmas Tree and also burning YC's Balsam and Cedar. ETA: Forgot I had Cheryl's Hippy Christmas melting too!
  11. Hi there - Just wanted to pop in and report on the YC Mountain Pine I"m trying out today....SUPER strong!! And this is from a 14-watt melter. It's scenting most of my 2-store house. I put it on before leaving for the school drop-off and the gym and when I walked back in the door the scent was almost overpowering. It's calmed down now that I've been home for a few minutes to a nice, steady even true Christmas-y tree scent. A very pleasant surprise since yesterday's YC Christmas Wreath was a total dud :(
  12. Good afternoon - Just checking in again to say that I ended up also melting Mulberry and Mistletoe from CHC in addition to the other scents earlier, and it's actually really good! Just got back from a little Yankee store excursion. Just got a handful of Christmas tarts. I also had my eye on the new snowman tart melter though. Might have to go back with another coupon and get that one - too cute!
  13. Good morning wax friends. Today I'm burning YC's Balsam and Cedar (small tumbler) and just put in Crosscreek's Strawberry Noel to melt. This is the scent month I've been waiting for - I'm ready to start Christmas scents in full force! Since the calendar still said November yesterday, I ceremoniously melted my last 2 fall melts, YC's Autumn Leaves and Tuscadero's Apples and Evergreen. Have a great day, everyone!
  14. Hi gang! It's been a busy weekend but finally have a little time to putter around the house. This morning I burned YC Sparkling Snow (small tumbler) while working, and melted the remainder of yesterday's Cranberry Peppermint from CHC. Right now I'm melting a Pine and Peels from Carol (last year's leftover and not too strong anymore but it was stored in a plastic bag so I'm not surprised - the scent was nice and strong as I recall). Currently burning 2 candles - YC Mistletoe (2-wick medium tumbler) and also burning a Pure Scents candle in Home for the Holidays. ETA: The Pine and Peel from Carol is actually doing quite well now!
  15. TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP. I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP. THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE, BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT. TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION, THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION. SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR, AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE. GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES. I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND, 'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND. I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY, WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE. BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES.... HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE. MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP. MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP. MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS. MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE, MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!! Have a fantastic holiday, everyone!! P.S. - In the spirit of keeping the post relevant to the thread, this morning I have been burning the end of PI's Pumpkin Pie. This jar lasted 3 fall seasons!
  16. PuppyLove - Glad to hear of your WW success - it's an awesome program! I tried everything before finally joining and it's the only program that I took weight off and kept it off as well. I absolutely love being a leader now. I do 5 regular meetings during the week and look forward to all of them - used to be 8 but things have been slow along with with every other business, unfortunately, so we have had to close lots of meetings in this area. But most of us dont' do this for the money anyway Funny to hear so many people have kids out of school this week. My kids have never had days off during this week - they have always gone right through Wednesday. It would have been nice but then again, I got just a little more quiet time before the craziness of the weekend. So today I've been melting Crosscreek's Autumn Magic - love this scent! Tonight I'll put in Pumpkin Pie from Crosscreek as well and that does it for fall in my house. I'm ready to break out Christmas smellies after tomorrow. I probably won't be back on until Friday so have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
  17. Happy Thanksgiving Eve, everyone! I am continuing a YC Balsam and Cedar small tumbler on my desk for work - then I'm running around a bit today after taking the kids to school...quick trip to the gym, just one group to teach today (I'm also a Weight Watchers meeting leader) and then pick the kids back up, then church this evening. Not a lot of wax time today but I have exactly 2 fall tarts left before starting Christmas scents so the timing is perfect. Yesterday's melt was Spiced Patchouli from Can-Do. Only had it in the tealight melter for a couple of hours before putting it out and I could smell it hanging in the air throughout the house all night long!
  18. Hi gang! Been crazy busy so I'm just popping for a quick hello and wax report......Today I'm meling YC Autumn Leaves downstairs, Falling Leaves from Nene's upstairs. Burning YC Be Thankful - this large 2-wick tumbler is lasting longer than I expected. It won't be finished by Thanksgiving and Friday I start Christmas wax so I guess it gets to hang out and be ready for next fall. Have a great afternoon/evening everyone!
  19. Jason - Happy Birthday! Had a very stressful week, so today instead of going to the gym I decided to come home after dropping kids off and de-stressing. I have to clean and work, but at least I'm alone in a quiet house for a little longer. I can always go exercise after school. So I am melting Be Thankful from Crosscreek, and have lit my YC 2-wick tumbler in the same scent to burn as well. In the office I lit Cheryl's Pumpkin Vanilla, and upstairs I am melting Hayride from Tuscadero's. Oh, and I had to stop at Starbucks and grab myself a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I'm in harvest heaven today - too bad I have to get myself into such a productive mode. I'd sure love to put my feet up with a good book instead. Oh well.
  20. My second-grader is home sick from school today - nothing serious, just enough under the weather to hibernate and not get any worse. Since it's a little gloomy right now too I have a bunch of stuff going - all YC: Downstairs I'm burning Be Thankful, melting Vanilla Pumpkin and re-melting Be Thankful from last night, and burning Spiced Pumpkin in a small tumbler.....Upstairs melter has Autumn Leaves. Should start to smell like walking into a YC store in no time!
  21. Good Saturday morning, everyone! Currently melting Can-Do's Applesauce Cake. Heading out for basketball day (last game then awards/pizza) then off to help a friend celebrate a birthday tonight. I'm looking forward to a grown-up night!
  22. YC Spiced Pumpkin - small tumbler. Have a great day, everyone!
  23. Sugared Spruce and Rocky Mountain Christmas - (Have had them both from Crosscreek and Tuscadero's - both excellent)! Love all the YC Chrismtas scents. PI's Victorian Christmas. These are just the few that I automatically go for at Christmas time.
  24. I agree about the YC accessories and the recent lack thereof.....I took out my really cute candle trays this year (one for Halloween and now one for fall - the really nice resin detailed ones with bushels of hay, apples, fences, etc.) - I love those and realized they haven't offered them in a couple of years I guess. I have a couple of electric melters that are super cute too - and I don't think they had but one for the whole fall season this year. I have bought a lot of Jackel products too - As far as I know they were the actual YC vendor and private labeled many of those accessories for Yankee. Maybe they just aren't in business together anymore.
