  1. Trep, it's snowing here too...not something that happens often in Charlotte. Kids are home from school, so I have something festive melting-Crosscreek's Island Holiday.
  2. Good Morning all--today I'm going with YC's Honeysuckle--it's snowing a tad and I want to pretend it is summer. Have a great day. Nancy
  3. Tonight I'm trying out Angie's Crow Pie for the first time in the upstairs burner. Love it - another winner! I'm also giving the new electric melter another go with Apple Torta from Crosscreek - I wanted to use a tried-and-true strong thrower this time. I'm getting better results than before, so maybe part of the earlier problem was the particular tart I was melting.
  4. candlefan--I tried the Berry Jam again this week and had much better results. I either got a dud or my nose was out of it. Ha! I was quite pleased with it the second time around and will be buying it again. This evening I am trying out Angie's sugar cookie--it hasn't even got half melted and I can already smell it alot. I think it is going to have a little more of a caramelly smell than I really like but it is definitely a good thrower and nice tart. Everyone have a nice evenng.
  5. I know I'm always melting something from YC, but I have grounded myself from trying any other brands until I deplete my YC stash. So today it is Berry Jam. I was a little worried about this one because Trep mentioned she didn't get any throw from it, but it's doing great in my bedroom in my electric melter. Maybe it just needs a smaller space? Also, I always have better luck with the electric. Any way, love the scent!
  6. I'm melting Nene's Banana Nut Bread. It is wonderful.
  7. I'm on my 11th hour of Nene's Lemon Squares! I started it yesterday afternoon in my office, blew it out and let it harden at 3pm, and fired it up again this morning at 6:30. It's a large tart, so it's putting out some fragrance. YUM! I have four more large LS tarts and a 1lb bag 'o Krumbles. This is one of my favorite scents! Jewel
  8. fleur, I love the spice and fall scents too! Amish Harvest, Spiced Pumpkin (or any of the pumpkin variations) and Harvest (YC and dupes) are all great...and Crosscreek's Autumn Spice is to die for...knock your socks off strong. Your son would probably hate it LOL. This morning before work I melted Angie's Brown Sugar Pecan again - this was the second round for this tart. I absolutely love it. Not too sweet - fans of Chestnuts & Brown Sugar would like this one. The throw was unbelievable - I melted it upstairs and it permeated the whole house right down through the basement. Right after I started melting it my daughter came downstairs to ask what it was - she loved it too. ETA - mpfand, Crosscreek does have sales from time to time. She hasn't had one in a while so she'lll probably have another soon.
  9. Good Morning all--Today I am trying out Beanpod's Pink Grapefruit soybeads. So far I am really liking it. It is a slightly different grapefruit scent but very nice. Have a great day, everyone!
  10. It's a cold day so I wanted a homey bakery scent. Can-Do's pumpkin gingerbread does not disappoint.
  11. Tonight I'm melting Bear Claws again (see my post in the tart burner thread in The Melting Pot as to why...) I also plan to try Brown Sugar Pecan from Angie's - I got my order today from her BOGO sale. Everything smells great - can't wait to try them all. I got a 16 oz jar candle in her Best Friends scent which smells just like summer to me! She's definitely in my top 3 along with Crosscreek and K's... momuvtwo - did the Bella's tarts seem to burn off their scent really fast for you? Mine smelled great and filled the house on the first melt, but the throw really tapered off with the second round of tealights... candlefan - YC's Vanilla Cupcake is one of my faves too. Have you tried Crosscreek's Birthday Cake? It's very similar with a huge throw (at least in my house LOL).
  12. Oooh, I love reading cookbooks, too! Now, I don't typically make a lot of the things I read about, but I sure do enjoy reading about them. LOL!
  13. Hi all. I'm doing a Vanilla Cupcake tart from YC tonight. Not real strong, but putting out a wonderful, if a bit light scent. UPDATE: As time goes on, I realize how much of the house this tart has permeated. It has a very good throw, it's just that it's a more subtle scent. I like this one!
  14. So it's sounding like we may need to start a "What's Cooking?" thread on this Off Topic board soon!?? Jewel
  15. Hi Jewel! I think I'd enjoy cooking more if I didn't have my 4 kids under my feet all day.
  16. I'm burning a fresh cut roses right now, and it smells so nice. Dh even likes it (especially since it doesn't smell like food ~ he hates my bakery scents). I'll try a rose of morocco tomorrow. Thanks again, Nancy! These tarts will definitely get put to use since I have 4 tart burners in my house.
  17. My new electric melter arrived from Brown Bag today so I'm testing it out with Bear Claws...
  18. I just found the Off Topic board...hey, it pays to scroll down! My name is Jewel, and I'm in the Seattle area. I'm happily married, and a mother to two Furbabies, I have a somewhat Diva-ish Siberian Husky, and my Wheaten Terrier Mix just happens to have his melt-your-heart face as my avatar next to my name! I'm an Account Manager for a clothing wholesaler, and I work from my home, so I can now melt tarts on my desk all day! I've got two major addictions: Cooking and Melts. Fortunately, my husband objects to neither since whichever addiction I'm feeding happens to make his house smell wonderful when he gets home from work. Unfortunately, sometimes the smell is only coming from the tarts, which he considers a tease. Jewel
  19. I was gone all day and came home to find my order from Angie's was here and that CHC order has shipped. I am sharing with friends so had to bag and label 72 Angie tarts. We'll see what my friends and I think of them and let you all know. I am too tired to try anything new tonite but will start in the morning. Have a nice evening all. Heidi--enjoy those roses. If you haven't already noticed there are some Rose of Morocco and some Bridgewater roses in there too. Enjoy!! Nancy
  20. After dinner, I'm going to be burning YCs fresh cut roses, since trep (Nancy) sent me a huge box full of them (56, to be exact ~ LOL).
  21. Still using up my DreamTarts...this morning is Graham Cracker, which is actually nice! However, it's starting to poop out and it's only been in for 3 hours. :( Once it hardens and I can take it out I'm going to try Nene's Good Day Sunshine which I've never tried before, but really sounds yummy! It's described as: An energizing blend of mandarin, kumquat, tangerine, and grapefruit with a hint of strawberry. A delectable way to start the day! Has anyone else tried this? Jewel
