Good morning, friends. I'm glad to see you all are doing well. Sure do miss getting here as much as I was before my mom got sick and this new relocation kicked in. She is still in a rehab, but improving daily. Hopefully next week when I get back from California, I can get a little closer to my normal routine. This afternoon I'm off for the "house-hunting" trip with DH. He left on Tuesday for Santa Clara and is getting settled in his new position. Technically, it was going to be more of an "apartment hunting" trip, to find him a place once the 30 days of corporate housing ended. However, good news came the other day when, after finding out how difficult (and expensive) it was going to be to get him into an apartment, we requested an additional 90 days of corporate housing and it was approved. Can you believe it will cost the company $6000 a month for a one-bedroom corporate apartment in Silicon Valley?! Yep, you read that correctly. Absolutely outrageous is all I can say, but thank you, Intel! I think that calls for a tiny tart order somewhere to celebrate. So sorry it is so difficult. DD #1 and I did get to see some of Vegas before my training began. The strip is a crazy place! I've never been to Europe, but it felt very much like we were there. The aquarium at Mandalay Bay was awesome! Would have loved to have met up with you for a visit. Maybe next time! It was an amazingly transformative week and I am so grateful to have been a part of it all. I've still got lots of work and training ahead of me, but I am well on my way. Hi girls. :) All this talk about beach time is making me jealous. The closest I'll get to a beach in the near future is in a few days when I get to Las Vegas. I've got a one-week training coming up next week and will be staying at a resort. DD #1 is going with me for the weekend portion and we are going a couple of days early to shop and relax by the pool, then she will leave Monday while I begin the training part. I'm happy to report that my mom is improving and finally talking after over a month without doing so. It's a slow road to recovery. Thanks for all of the prayers and good thoughts. Hi girls. :) Sorry to see you had a bout of mastitis, Biolaeagles! I had that, too, once with each of my girls. No fun. Thanks for all of your good thoughts for my mom. Today marks one full month for her in ICU. I think it's safe to say that she and I are both exhausted on all counts. She is slowly improving, but is still on the ventilator, and I was just told this morning she will likely need to be placed in a weaning center separate from the hospital. This would be a difficult enough situation when a mother and daughter are close, but far more difficult when there has been estrangement within the family. My brother was in from Chicago last week after having no contact with her for eight years, and prior to July 1st when she went to the ER, I hadn't seen her for a little over a year. Hi there. :) Stopping in to report on my mom. She's still in ICU intubated, and there is only slight improvement in her condition based on the fact that she had not had any more complications since the pnuemonia, blood clot, and internal bleeding. This is day 19 in the ICU. They will most likely do a tracheostomy tomorrow since it is easier to wean off the ventilator that way. My brother came in from Chicago over the weekend and we cancelled DH's flight back to Phoenix for today. I'm so busy with all of this I'm hardly changing out my melters. Sure am missing my old life. My poor mom took another turn for the worse on Monday morning when they found internal bleeding. They had to discontinue the Heparin (anticoagulant) immediately and with a CT scan found two internal bleeds, one of which was significant. Yesterday they took her to Interventional Radiology where they use a catheter to try to locate the bleeds and repair them (it's less invasive than going back into the ER), and to insert a filter to prevent any clots from rising to her major organs. We're hoping this third complication will be the last one and that she will start to improve. Again, thanks for your thoughts. I'll be really glad to have DH home for the weekend. He comes in this evening. Threw on a few homemade ones since I haven't had time to "angst" through any vendor stash to decide what to melt. Thanks for all of the prayers and good wishes for my mom. She is still in ICU. It is day 11 and my sister had to go back to Mississippi this morning. I was incorrect in originally stating that her surgery was for a hiatal hernia. I found out it was a more serious condition called gastric volvulus. Vomiting blood is one of the ways it presents and it requires emergency surgery. She made it through the surgery okay a week ago Thursday, but was taken off intubation too soon. They had to reintubate her last Sunday, then she contracted pneumonia and a couple of days ago they found a blood clot in her lung. I gotta say, it's the hardest thing seeing someone you love hooked up to a breathing machine like that with a tube down their throat. Getting a quick breather for a sec, so I thought I'd pop in. Not melting much of anything. My mom has been in ICU in critical condition since last Thursday morning. She had emergency surgery for a hiatal hernia on Thursday, but has had problems with low blood pressure, breathing difficulties (needing to be intubated), and now pneumonia. It's been a stressful week. I'll be back soon. Miss you guys.

Biolaeagles had her baby boy at 2:42 AM this morning. Baby Reid was 8 lbs., 2 oz., 20.5 inches. Mama and baby are doing fine after an all-natural birth. No time for the epidural because the anesthesiologist was tied up with a C-section. :confettistars: Congratulations to the whole family! :confettistars:
