As part of our celebration of fathers this month of June, we stumbled upon a wonderful wax melt company named Luna Wax. They make some adorable wax melts, and the Dads Are The Best wax melts were perfect for our June subscription boxes! We were so impressed with them, we decided a formal review was in order.

Packaging/Presentation
Can you say cute three times fast? That would describe these adorable wax melts from Luna Wax! There were two pigs to a pack and the amount of detail was amazing. They were pink and had some black drizzle on them – I’m assuming from rolling in the mud. They were packaged in a cello bag and a nice label so that it was easy to get all the details necessary for these.
Authenticity
My Dads Are The Best wax melts had a sweet smokiness to them on cold sniff. It was a little earthy, but not too heavy.

I melted one of my pigs in a 24W hotplate melter, and that is when the real joy began. The scent was GORGEOUS! It was a little bit of smoky campfire mixed with some fresh earthy notes. There were hints of a floral sweetness to it that kept it from being too thick or heavy. I thought I could smell sweet apples every now and then, but I didn’t see that in the scent description. Maybe that was the cranberry, but it smelled more like cran-apple to me. I think that element of the fragrance might have gotten drowned out by the heavier notes. Still, this was a very wonderful, complex scent. I think it was more unisex and could please just about anyone.
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
My Dads Are The Best wax melts filled up the room they were in and wafted on around the open living space. The scent itself was moderately strong and it carried well. I used just one of the piggies and was very pleased with both the scent strength and the scent throw.
Melt Performance
I’ll admit to getting a tad bit lazy when I put in this wax melt. I just didn’t feel like changing out melters that particular day, so this wax melt stayed in place most of the day. I was still able to enjoy the scent for hours on end. It naturally faded out towards the end of the day, but I was still smelling it by the time I called it quits. I think this pack of piggies could last you several days, especially if you had the heart to cut the pigs in half.
Conclusion
I am over the moon with the melts from Luna Wax, and these Dads Are The Best ones are super fantastic. They are more unisex and can be used for moms and dads alike, in my opinion. They are super adorable and would look great just sitting out on a shelf. But wax melts are meant to melt, and these were pretty strong performers. I’m so glad they are in our June boxes so that our customers get to try them out!
