Intro To My Candle Review
Soy candles are all the rage recently, and with good reason. When done correctly, they often have very clean burns with wonderful scent throws. I’m not one to enter into the soy-vs-paraffin debate – I love them both for different reasons. But I was glad to learn Candle Escape offered up 100% soy wax candles with cotton wicks.
First Impressions of My Candle
I absolutely loved the look of the apothecary jar – clean look, clear label, white wax. It was neat & simple…something that would fit into any decor scheme. My candle had 2 wicks which I thought was perfect for this size & style of jar. The lid was a flat-topped glass lid and they do offer a wood lid if you prefer.
I’m all about the Clean Cotton scent these days – fresh, clean, and invigorating! I love it just about everywhere I’ve tried it. When I read the scent description for this candle, I knew my love affair with Clean Cotton would live on.

Cold sniff didn’t disappoint. I smelled mostly the ozone, clean-type scent with just a bit of lemony goodness to boot. It kind of reminded me of fabric softener sheets, only not that perfume-y. The cold sniff was pleasing but on the milder side. I was excited to burn this baby to see if the other notes would come out.
Once burning – oh, yeah! The scent became more full-bodied and energizing. I’d say the ozone notes still reigned supreme, but I also got more of the citrus-floral mix. Cedar? I didn’t get that. Maybe it was lost in translation, but it really didn’t matter to me. This was a fresh, clean scent that I loved from beginning to end. The scent itself was stronger when burning – it was moderately strong in a large, open living space. The scent throw was excellent, as it traveled all throughout the main level of the home. I even took this candle on a road trip with me and boy, did it make my hotel room smell great!
How Did My Clean Cotton Candle from Candle Escape Burn?
I’ve burned at least a gazillion candles in my lifetime and this was one of the cleanest burning candles I’ve ever used. Ever!!! It did not take a long time to get a full wax melt pool and it burned evenly throughout. The wicks were super easy to maintain and I saw zero black soot. Zippo. None on the sides of the candle jar, either. I was sad to see this candle come to an end!
Closing To My Candle Review
I had a blast burning this candle. The clean and effortless burn made it a joy to use. The scent was a great mix of that clean, somewhat perfume-y ozone scent mixed with some citrus and floral. Heavier on the ozone but overall a nice blended combo. It inspired me to clean a load of towels, making it a win-win for everyone!
I would definitely give Candle Escape a try and if you like fresh, clean scents, I don’t think you could go wrong with Clean Cotton. I have a couple of more scents to review in the next coming weeks…we’ll see if they can hold a candle to Clean Cotton! (Sorry…I’m corny like that.)
