Intro To My Soy Candle Review
I’ve already reviewed a couple of soy candles from Simplistic Candle Shoppe, and next up is Citron & Mandarin. I’ve had such good success with my other two candles, I was confident that I was going to enjoy this one, too. I love citrus scents, so that was a huge bonus, too. Simplistic rotates their candle scents out on a seasonal basis, and I was happy to see this one was in their current lineup.
First Impressions of My Soy Candle
This candle came in the 8oz status jar, same as I’ve had with my other two candles. The look was simple and clean. There was a notation on the label indicating that this was a 100% soy candle, which is important to a lot of candle burners. I’m wild about citrus scents, so I was pretty excited to see how this one smelled cold.

I definitely got the mix of citrus scents in this candle. I was a little hesitant when I read about the musk notes, but I wasn’t smelling that on cold sniff. The scent was moderately strong cold, so I was anticipating a good throw when burning.
I’ve been on the move quite a bit these past few weeks, so I have had to use my best judgement for where to place certain candles depending on my current digs. As this was an 8-ouncer, I opted to use it in an open kitchen area. Once lit, the candle started throwing out this tangy citrus scent without a problem. I had moved on to an adjacent living room and could smell this candle scent wafting out there.
This scent was amazing! It was such a good blend of sweet and tangy, combining the best of both worlds of citrus scents. It was a little more on the sweet side, which I thought might be due to the added vanilla notes. I didn’t smell any musk. This was a moderately strong scent with a really good throw.
How Did My Soy Candle Perform?
This candle took no time to make a full wax melt pool. The melt pool was even and the burn was fairly flawless. No black sooting. I had no wasted wax on the sides of the jar. Nada. Just a nice, clean burn.
Closing To My Soy Candle Review
I really, really enjoyed this soy candle. It was a great, punchy scent and the throw was really good for such a small candle. I could see myself burning this scent all year long. This was a good mix of sweet and tangy, leaning more towards the sweet. I’ve enjoyed my introduction to Simplistic Candle Shoppe and suspect I’ll be back!
