Almond Sugar Candle – Febreze Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Febreze
Type: 22oz Candle – Home Collection Candle
Fragrance: Almond Sugar
Scent Strength: Light
Introduction to my review:
Hard to believe that this is the first Febreze candle I’ve ever burned – or reviewed. It’s also fitting that the first candle I purchased was a bakery scent considering bakery fragrances are my favorite – ever! I’ve been eyeballing these candles for awhile now but never bought one till recently. It was ultimately the scent that did me in. When I saw Almond Sugar and smelled it, the aroma was so mouthwatering… I ended up purchasing two. It smelled so utterly delicious!! Like, you want to eat the wax kind of delicious.
This specific scent is from the Febreze “Home Collection” which I plan on looking into more. If any of their other scents in this line are like Almond Sugar, I can’t wait to try more. The style of the candle is very attractive… the glass is thick and oval shaped. There is a cream colored label on one side of the candle with the company logo at the top with the scent name below it. The lid is clear plastic with 2 holes in it so you can smell the wax without removing the lid. The wax was a cream color and the candle had two wicks.
What did my candle smell like?
Let’s start with the scent description I pulled off Febreze website:
“With Almond Sugar, smooth vanilla combines with sweet almond notes and soft sugary caramel.”
Smelling the wax, what stands out the most to me was vanilla with loads of sweet sugar and the perfect hints of almond. It was very sweet and creamy and right off the bat, a wonderful vanilla. I sometimes have issues with almond fragrances, even scents that have small notes of almond. Almond tends to dominate in any scent I’ve tried and I don’t like it. It’s too sharp and overrides everything else. This fragrance however was perfect. Absolutely perfect. The dominating fragrance was creamy vanilla with hints of almond which is exactly how I like it. Yummy!!! I could even smell hints of caramel. I loved it!!
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 4. It wasn’t very strong, even for it’s size and that did disappoint me a little. I started this candle in a small powder room and ended up leaving it there and even in that small room, the scent throw stayed pretty light but what I could smell… pure yum!! I still loved this candle regardless of the strength.
This candle burned mediocre. It did struggle with each lighting to reach a full melt pool, even with 2 wicks so there was some wasted wax along the glass wall. The wicks never had to be trimmed either so there were times both struggled to stay lit but with some help each day, they did light up and burn ok. The candle did burn with no soot.
Closing to my review:
I liked this candle… a lot! I just wish it would have been stronger, had it been, oh my goodness, I would have been in heaven. This is a mass produced candle so maybe my expectations were too high. I will give them kudos for authenticity though… as far as mass produced candles go, this scent absolutely rocked!! I’m a vanilla lover, especially the sweet vanillas and this scent bordered on perfect. Seriously.
So, if you love sweet vanilla scents, definitely check this one out next time you’re at Walmart. It’s beyond yummy!!
Happy candle hunting!

I agree with your review. I loved this candle although it was lightly scented. I would still buy it again. It smelled creamy and amazing.
i am a fan of vanilla scents too. i would buy this if i ever saw it in a store near me! i feel like all the febreeze and glade candles are always SUPER picked over where i shop, and all the scents i would be interested in are gone. i’ve only burned one before and had a lot of problems with the wick too so it seems like a common problem :/
