First impression of Vanilla & Bourbon:
Vanilla & Bourbon is from Colonial Candles “Holiday Star Collection.” I hit their 50% off sale and nabbed this candle the moment I saw it. I love vanilla scents and imagined a creamy vanilla with a hint of bourbon in the background. That’s what I was hoping for anyway.

Vanilla Bourbon is filled with the decadence of rich bourbon wrapped in creamy caramel and vanilla alongside dark woods and exotic floralcy.
T: Coconut Milk, Butter Rum, Dark Jasmine
M: Creamy Caramel, Rich Bourbon, Sugar Cane
D: French Vanilla, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, White Musk
Ooooh yes please!! Here are the notes I’m hoping to smell – Coconut milk, Butter Rum, Creamy Caramel, Rich Bourbon, Sugar Cane and French Vanilla. The rest… meh! I’m a bakery girl, what can I say? Smelling the wax, I’m happy to report, this scent is all vanilla and creamy as can be. Maybe I could smell a hint of musk but it was very subtle. So far, so good!
Time to light my candle!
I lit my Vanilla & Bourbon candle in my master bedroom and a good hour in, I ended up moving it to a medium size room for maximum scent throw. A really large room was just too big for this candle. Once moved – aaaaah!! My guest bedroom was filled with the aroma of a very unique vanilla. Up close to the candle, I could detect buttered rum and bourbon the most along with the creamiest vanilla as the base. It smelled yummy. Musk? Very minimal if at all and I was perfectly okay with that. Dark Jasime? Not a lick of floral in this scent. Vanilla & Bourbon smelled like a buttery vanilla with delicious notes of rum. I could actually smell the alcohol. Loved it!
Strength – I would rate Vanilla & Bourbon a 6/7 out of 10 in a really large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms. This candle is definitely best in a smaller room if you’re after strength.
How Did My Vanilla & Bourbon Burn?
My candle burned perfect. No wick issues other than keeping all three wicks trimmed before lighting each day. Normal maintenance.
Closing To My Review:
Vanilla & Bourbon from Colonial Candle smelled pretty darn good and this is coming from one picky vanilla lover. I really enjoyed it and would totally purchase it again. In fact, I just might. It’s on mega sale right now and I for one can never resist a good sale.
Give it a try if you’re in the mood for a smooth vanilla with an added alcohol kick. It’s considered a holiday scent but it’s a great one any time of the year. And just an FYI… all Colonial’s holiday scents are on sale right now so now is the time to shop.

Hello, I really loved the article. Love the combination of vanilla and bourbon as the sweet fragrance of the vanilla goes well with the sweetness of the bourbon fragrance. Would love to read more posts on blending other unusual fragrance blends. Keep up the good work.
