First impression of Tibetan Sandalwood:

Let’s start off with the scent description I pulled from Colonial’s site:

Surround yourself with radiant amber, rich woods, and sensual sandalwood.

First impression… the wax did have an earthy element to it, but it also smelled like perfume to me. I had my daughter smell it to get her opinion and she agreed, it smelled like an exotic and spicy perfume. It was also very strong from just smelling the wax. The moment I popped off the lid to this candle, the scent burst all around me. We’ll see if that holds up once burning.

Let’s find out!

Colonial’s large jars tend to be room fillers for me so I felt comfortable lighting this one in my master bedroom. Once the wicks were lit, it took a good 20 minutes to reach a full melt pool but I started noticing the fragrance long before that. The aroma… a very exotic fragrance I really enjoyed. The perfume I at first smelled went away leaving notes of soft amber and sandalwood. The rich woods noted in the description were there too but subtle. I think that was the perfume aspect I was smelling at first. Whatever it was, it blended perfectly with the amber and sandalwood leaving behind a very exotic and earthy fragrance. Very nice.

Strength – this candle wasn’t as strong as I thought it would be. In a really large room, I would rate this candle a 6/7. In a medium room, an 8 maybe. 10 in smaller rooms. So, if you’re after a room filler, I would stick to medium or small rooms to burn this candle in.

How did my candle burn?

This candle burned fairly well. The wicks were perfect from start to finish. A little bit of wax was left along the glass wall in the farthest parts of the jar but it wasn’t too bad. Overall, nice burn.

 Closing to my review:

Tibetan Sandalwood was a nice fragrance. I’m not usually a huge fan of earthy type scents but this one was quite enjoyable and a candle I could see myself purchasing again. My husband didn’t even complain and I had this candle going a full week in our bedroom. That clearly tells you this aroma wasn’t perfume’y or offensive to him or he would have been squawking the first day I lit the wicks. LOL!!

I have lots more reviews coming down the pike from Colonial. I hit a great sale and purchased the mother load so stay tuned.

Until then… happy candle hunting!
