Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Pumpkin Walnut Cheesecake:
Can a bakery lover resist a name like Pumpkin Walnut Cheesecake? It sounded too yummy not to try. At least that was my way of thinking when I saw this scent on Shortie’s website.
Let’s start off with the scent description:
Rich pumpkin and cream cheese are spiced just right then topped with a delicious walnut caramel crunch and a touch of warm cinnamon maple butter.
Mmmm! That sounds positively yummy. First impression when I popped off the lid… I smelled a rich and creamy custard that could easily be a cheesecake as well. The pumpkin was not very present when I first smelled the wax but who knows what fragrances will come to life once the candle was burning.
Let’s find out!
I lit this candle in a small room to start out and that’s where it stayed till the very end. The aroma… scrumptious but it still remained the same for me… a creamy vanilla custard type scent. I never really did detect pumpkin so if it was there, it was very light. Walnut caramel crunch? Maybe a teeny bit but it was very subtle. Cinnamon maple butter? Hard to tell. I didn’t smell anything spicy in this scent. To me, this fragrance was all custard and yes, you could even say a creamy cheesecake. A scent I’m pretty sure all vanilla lovers would enjoy. Alas, this candle was on the lighter side as with most vanilla scents tend to be, that was the only bummer.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 6/7 in a really small room. If you wanted to go larger, I would try burning two candles at once or try scented melts which tend to be stronger.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned fairly well. It burned even till the very end but it did not burn clean. Even with staying vigilant with wick trimming, black soot did form along the upper inner edge of the glass no matter what I did. Very weird and hopefully a fluke with this brand since that’s never happened before.
Closing to my review:
Pumpkin Walnut Cheesecake was cheesecake alright but to my nose, that’s all it was. No pumpkin, walnut caramel crunch or spicy cinnamon maple butter. Had those elements been present… yum! But regardless, this was still a nice and creamy bakery scent just as it was and I did enjoy it.
Have you tried this candle? I would love to know your thoughts on it. Did it smell just as I described or no? Let us know!
Happy candle hunting!
