Introduction to my review:
Oh my gosh… Marshmallow Peeps!! Does this not bring back loads of memories? Can you not taste these babies? I used to eat these by the gobloads when I was a kid but now that I calorie count (sigh)… I’m lucky if I even get to nibble on one these days. That’s the beauty of candles… I get to smell all that yumminess to my hearts content with zero calories.
This candle is too flippin cute and goes right along with the Easter and spring theme with it‘s pastel yellow wax and marshmallow peeps label! I love it!! The label on this candle is super cute… it shows pink, purple, yellow and blue marshmallow peeps all lined up together as the background of the label with the scent name directly below it. If this candle doesn’t signify Easter, I don’t know what does.
What did my candle smell like?
First sniff… sweet and bakery… it reminded me of a warm and yummy cake. It definitely smelled bakery. Marshmallow? Not so sure yet. My 10 year old smelled it too and he agreed… he said it smelled like birthday cake. Here is the scent description from Yankee’s website:
“The fluffy, sweet marshmallow scent of these classic treats welcomes spring with colorful fun.”
I don‘t know… I tried pretty hard to pick up marshmallow but I‘m still smelling cake. To me, marshmallow scents are pretty distinctive and this was not even close. I lit this candle in a small bathroom (my room of choice for Yankee Candles) and would say it took a good 30 minutes for the fragrance to fully saturate the room. The fragrance smelled wonderful and stayed pretty true as when I first smelled it… a warm white cake. I really wasn’t smelling that sugary sweetness I associate with peeps though. I think this scent was awesome but not what I was imagining it to be.
Strength – as with all Yankee candles (for me anyway) the scent was light. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this candle a 4. It fragranced my small bathroom perfectly and it was nice and strong but in a medium or large room… the scent would have been totally lost. These candles are perfect for small rooms.
My candle burned great. It was very slow burning with no wick issues. It did take hours to reach full melt pools but that’s pretty normal with Yankee candles. Clean burning with no wasted wax.
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed this candle but I’m still holding firm this scent did not smell like Marshmallow Chicks. If someone put this candle up to my nose without seeing the label or knowing what the scent name was, I would have said cake, all the way. It was missing that sugary element that is so part of this gooey Easter treat… had that been present, it would have smelled more authentic.
Just to be clear… I still enjoyed this candle and fragrance regardless… as far as cake scents go… awesome!!
Happy candle hunting!

Basically the label is different but it’s Vanilla Cupcake!
Now this scent I enjoyed. I agree it didn’t smell like marshmallows but it was sweet and candy like.
I agree, light but still smells good. I wish it was stronger.
Smells exactly like marshmallows but very light. I wish it was stronger.
I bought this in the wax melt and I loved the way it smelled. I thought it smelled like buttercream frosting and cupcake more than Peeps marshmallows, but either way, it was a delicious scent. I found it to be light-medium scent throw, had it been stronger, I would of rated it higher. I still would purchase again because it smells so good 🙂
