Introduction to my review:

It’s carnival time again! Get your beads and masks. Even if you’re not in New Orleans for festival season, you can still let your hair down a little with a collection of four scents from Colonial Candle called New Orleans…the scents are called – French Quarter, Powdered Beignets, Jazz Fest, and of course Mardi Gras. I’ll be digging into all four of these fragrances over the next few weeks.

For this review I’m focusing on Mardi Gras. I’m hoping for a bright, fresh, and decadent scent.

The 8 ounce Mardi Gras candle is one of Colonial Candle’s signature oval shaped glass jars with two wicks. The wax is purple and the label shows a Mardi Gras mask. As with all Colonial Candle oval jars, the label is easy to peel off so the jar can be repurposed, but I liked the look of the label and it matched the fun purple wax.

How did my candle smell?

Colonial Candle describes their Mardi Gras candle like this: mardi-gras-candle

“Kick off the celebration with the exhilarating scents of bergamot, neroli, and the aroma of blonde woods. This festive scent is the next best thing to being there.”

Mardi Gras had a fruity, herbal sniff. It is bright, citrusy and masculine, like a rustic orange. I really enjoyed leaning in for a whiff.

The scent strength didn’t gain much traction in my large main room. I had to be quite near the candle to get the full effect. I moved the jar into a smaller room and it fragranced the whole space nicely.

Colonial Candle Mardi Gras burned beautifully. I loved the color of the purple wax as it melted. The wax pool reached all sides of the oval jar and the wick flames were perfect…so pretty!

Closing to my review…

Colonial Candles are available in many retail locations and online. They offer decent sales from time to time so be sure to check their website or subscribe to their email offers.Mardi Gras New Orleans Candle - Colonial Candle

Happy Mardi Gras! Let the good times roll… and the candles burn.
