Candlefind Says

An intoxicating fragrance that is reminiscent of VS’s Love Spell scent. Love Trance is a bit more full bodied and warm. The candle offered up a clean, long-lasting burn.

Pros

  • Even, clean burn
  • Long-lasting

Cons

  • Only one candle size available

We could all use a little bit of pampering these days. The year 2020 has proven to be a challenging one so far on many levels. It’s no surprise that we turn to candles when we are in pampering mode, which is why the candle company Pampered Senses makes so much, well…sense these days. I was able to test out their Love Trance candle some time ago, and I think now is the perfect time to share those thoughts with you.

Packaging/PresentationPampered Senses Love Splendor Candle

This Love Trance candle was a 5 ounce mason jar candle with a dark, screw-top lid. This is the only size currently available on the Pampered Senses’ website. The label on front displayed the scent name and company name and could be easily removed if that’s your thing. The wax of this candle was such a pretty pastel purple color…it instantly put me in a bright mood. There was a sprinkling of purple glitter on top – nice decoration without being over the top. What’s even more, there were two red wax lip embeds on top of the candle wax. So cute! One of my lips was fully embedded in the wax and the other was a loose in the jar. I ended up using those loose lips as a wax melt (bonus!). The wick was well-centered and thick…it was abutted right next to the wax lips, so I had to pull it away just a bit to make sure I could trim the wick properly. Overall, it was very cute and fun. Since testing this candle, Pampered Senses has undergone a rebranding and all of their candle wax is white now. The lips and glitter are still there on this candle, but just in case you purchase one, you’ll know why yours looks a little different than mine.

Authenticity

The cold sniff on this fragrance was like a soft, light floral. I thought I smelled a bit of lilac, but I see that’s not in the scent description:

This fragrance is a luscious fusion of citrus, cherry blossom, hydrangea, apple and peach; with a hint of blondewood and vanilla.

Pampered Senses

Sounded nice! Once the candle was burning, I was able to detect more of the nuances of this particular scent. The light floral notes were still present, but it was also met by a little bit of sweetness, probably from the fruity notes. What really got me was after this candle was burning for about an hour or so, the warm, woodsy notes were noticeable. It was warm and a little sultry…so, so good! It blended well with the sweetness and floral notes to make an incredible blend. Love Trance is their rendition of the Love Spell scent – I found this one more warm and full-bodied compared to Love Spell. I like both fragrances, but this one was more rounded to me.

Scent Strength & Scent Throw

The cold sniff on this candle was fairly light. It was hard to get a good feel for it going in cold. I did burn this candle in a few places. I first tried it in a medium sized guest bedroom and it did ok in that space. I was able to detect the candle was burning as I was mulling about in the room, but I couldn’t smell it on down the hall. I then moved it to the guest bathroom and was much happier with it there. The fragrance itself is lighter, but the scent threw on throughout that guest bathroom. It was lovely & exactly what I thought this candle scent should be.

Burn Performance

My Love Trance candle took under an hour to get a full wax melt pool. The flame was a nice teardrop shape with no sputtering or wisps of black soot noted. Just a nice, clean, even burn. In between burns, I kept my wick trimmed a bit short which worked just fine. The candle did have a nice, slow burn, too. I was amazed at the burn life given the size of the candle. I don’t see burn times listed on the website, but I got a good 35 hour burn time out of my candle. Plus there was the bonus wax melt!

Conclusion

This Love Trance candle was super fun to burn. It was absolutely ADORABLE, from the small mason-jar style to the glitter on the top. The wax lip embeds were a nice added touch, and embeds are part of the thing for Pampered Senses (as well as for their associated company, Man Brand Candles). Just know that if you do get this candle, it will look a little bit different due to the rebranding. It’s a smaller sized candle, so placement is key. I think using a single candle in a small-medium sized bathroom or bedroom would be perfect, or trying multiples if you need to fragrance a larger space. Overall, this was a high-quality candle from this indie wax vendor and I’m eager to try more of the lineup!
