Intro To My Candle Review
Confession time…I saved Gold Dust Woman from Evoke Candle Co. as my last to burn because I thought I might like it the least of all three. A hippie candle? Patchouli and amber scents are not generally my cup of tea, so I was hesitant to get the burn started. But after I did? Katy bar the door, because this hippie candle was just trippy in my book, and in an oh-so-good way!

First Impressions of My Candle
The candle vessel was simply gorgeous, as all my Evoke candles have been. This one, though, stepped it up a notch as it was very refined and elegant. The white ceramic was cool in my hand, and the gorgeous gold markings on the candle were just beautiful. Simple, elegant, and luxurious. Those were the words that came to mind as I unwrapped this lovely.
The wax on this candle was white and there was a single, well-placed wick. The initial cold sniff was different than what I was expecting…I did smell patchouli, but it was surrounded by some green notes that had a slight sweetness to it. Not harsh at all! Mmmm…I immediately thought I was gonna like this candle.

I decided to burn this candle in the master bedroom, probably to face my patchouli fears. The candle took a while to get a full wax melt pool, as it was a slow burner. But after about half an hour, I began noticing an earthy, warm scent coming from this candle. Patchouli is often too earthy and too woodsy for me, but not in this candle. I loved the green notes I was smelling and the honey-like sweetness. It was such a soothing and relaxing scent, I really couldn’t get enough! It was a moderately strong scent and I could smell it throughout the master bedroom, which is a fairly large space. I could tell the candle was burning even when I was out and about in the hallways. Nice!
How Did My Candle Perform?
As I mentioned, this candle was a super slow burner. It seemed like it took forever to get a full wax melt pool, but I did on the first burn. The flame was a good size and I never had any trouble with my wick. I just trimmed it between burns & kept on keeping on. I never noticed any black sooting from this candle. It burned down cleanly without any wax hangup on the sides of the jar.
I am surprised I liked this candle so much, and I’m really glad I tried it. This goes to show, scents are so versatile and often smell different based on wax formulations or whatever they are mixed with. I’ve gotten over my patchouli fears, found a hippie candle to love, and just confirmed that Evoke Candle Company is among one of my favorite candle companies.
