First impression of Grapefruit:

Grapefruit… what a perfect citrus scent to burn in your home on a hot summer day. That was the first thing I thought of when I popped off the lid to this candle from Shortie’s. The moment I did, a burst of fresh citrus wafted all around my face, and I knew it was the first candle I wanted to review out of the six I received from this company.

Before I get into this fragrance… have you tried Shortie’s Candle Co. yet? I’ve been burning this brand (off and on) for a good 8 years now and I’ve always been pleased with the quality and fragrances. They’re definitely worth a gander next time you’re hunting for a new company to try. And melt lovers… they have clamshell melts too. Just sayin….. ?

Now, back to my Grapefruit candle. Here is the scent description from Shortie’s website:

This wonderfully bitter sweet citrus fragrance features watery green nuances blended with top notes of lily of the valley and coriander blossom on a body of Pink Pomelo Grapefruit.

First impression, I didn’t smell any watery green nuances, coriander blossom or lily of the valley… to me, this fragrance was solid pink pomelo grapefruit and it was mouthwatering sweet and fresh. I loved it just based off cold sniff. Now let’s see how it performs!

I decided to light this candle in a small room to start out. Once the wick was lit, it took minutes before I started noticing the scent and realized it needed to go into a bigger room. This little candle was strong! Once I moved it to a medium sized bedroom, the aroma was perfect and the fragrance… so refreshing!! My entire guest bedroom was filled with a zesty grapefruit aroma covered in sugar. It was so authentic; my mouth was watering for the real fruit. I loved it!!

Strength – I would rate this candle a 7 in a really large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms. This little candle packed a punch and I was really happy with the strength.

How did my candle burn?

This candle burned perfect. No wick issues. Clean burning from beginning to end.

Closing to my review:

It’s been awhile since I’ve burned a grapefruit scent and this candle reminded me once again how much I do enjoy this fragrance. It was a perfect balance of zesty citrus and sweet sugar. Definitely give this scent a try if you love strong citrus fragrances. I’ll definitely be purchasing this one again.
