Introduction to my review of Fruit Fusion from Yankee:
Hey Candlefinders! I’m late getting this review posted… I’ve had it finished since late spring and then forgot about it. My bad!! Sooooo many candles to burn… so little time.
When I saw “Fruit Fusion” in Yankee’s scent list, I knew I wanted to review this candle. I love fruity/citrus scents and this scent sounded too refreshing to pass up. I saw the word “fruit” with a picture of oranges, limes and strawberries and I was sold. I can’t resist a good tart fruity scent… especially when it’s hot outside. It brightens my mood. I also liked the color of this candle… a festive and bright orange.
I purchased 2 different sizes just for fun to see if I noticed a difference in strength between the two. One was their classic one wick medium candle… the other their 2 wick tumbler style candle. We’ll see how they each fare…
What did my Fruit Fusion candles from Yankee look like?
Candle #1 – 14.5oz medium classic jar. It was single wicked and the label had a picture of a mix of oranges, strawberries and limes. Very cool color too… a bright vibrant and deep orange.
Candle#2 – large 22oz double wicked tumbler style candle. I’m really liking this style. Wax color and labels were identical on both candles.
What did my Fruit Fusion candle from Yankee smell like?
Let’s start off with the scent description:
“Summer-licious . . . berries, orange and lime make this sunny fruit blend refreshingly tart and sweet.”
This was an interesting scent on first sniff. I didn’t like it, but I didn’t dislike it either. Other than the color (which I loved,) the scent didn’t really impress me all that much. It smelled fruity but fake.
Going off the scent description, I was expecting a citrus burst of oranges and limes and although I could detect oranges… the overall fragrance was *off*. I almost want to say it had a synthetic type of smell to it. Yankee, what happened? They’re usually so spot on with scents, even if the candle isn’t strong, you can always count on awesome fragrances. That’s one aspect I’ve always been impressed with… Yankee knows their fragrances and are copied far and wide for them.
Fruit Fusion was definitely a blend of fruit but nothing popped or stood out to me. I couldn’t put my finger on what I was smelling. It was fruity but smelled generic. I didn’t care for it at all.
Medium 14.5oz Jar: Strength? Not bad actually. For a one wick candle, I started noticing the scent within minutes of lighting it. Within 20 minutes, my entire bedroom was filled with scent. On a scale of 1 to 10, this was an easy 8+. And wow is this candle really pretty when lit. The orange is striking with the flame going. I loved the color. The candle did struggle to get a full melt pool but it burned overall pretty well. A teeny layer of wax was left around the glass wall at the end.
22oz Large Tumbler: I like this style and size candle much better than Yankee’s classic jars. The wax in this tumbler had a creamy smooth texture… not like their shiny and hard mottled wax I’m used to. This candle burned like a dream, I just had to be really vigilant on my wick maintenance… if I didn’t keep both trimmed regularly, they became huge flames.
Scent throw with this candle was about the same as the classic jar. Very nice strong throw. SUPER clean burn from beginning to end. No residue of wax at all. Loved that. Just for sure keep an eye on the wicks and keep them trimmed.
Closing to my Fruit Fusion review:
Well, live and learn. I know I won’t like *every* scent I purchase and that includes fragrances from Yankee. It’s the way it goes when purchasing blindly online. This was one of those experiences.
The presentation of these candles was excellent… the wax a beautiful color and both candles burned great. The scent itself…. not my favorite… it was weird and I couldn’t put my finger on what it was exactly I didn’t like… it just didn’t smell authentic to me. But that’s okay. Something I hate, others will love and vice versa. That’s the beauty of opinion and taste… we’re all different.
Overall rating:
Presentation: 4/5
Burn performance: 4/5
Scent throw: 4/5
Authenticity of fragrance: 0/5
Overall rating: 2.5/5
Happy candle burning!

I love fruit fusion. I have 12 saved up . It reminds me of a summer picnic with a flower garden near by. It makes me happy every single time I smell it whether from opening a new candle to coming in my house after going outside for a few minutes. I can’t get enough of them.
Sounds awesome, Maryann. It’s a great scent, isn’t it? It’s amazing how specific scents can “speak” to us.
I just tried this scent – smelled wonderful cold, but somehow different when lit, something is just off. Color is gorgeous. especially when it gets all glowy – but scent is not pleasant enough to live with for 120++ hrs.
I didn’t care for this candle either. Waste of money.
Interesting reviews although I had a different experience. I enjoyed this candle. I found it fruity and fresh.
I disliked this fragrance, it smelled synthetic.
