  1. Last night I melted BRH Harvest Spice again. I figured that I should be willing to give it a second try. I still couldn't really smell it when I was standing 2 feet away from the melter, but from across the room I could pick up cinnamon, cloves, and some sort of citrus. Weird, huh?

I also melted a sandalwood tart, but it wasn't labelled with a company name. I hate when companies don't fully label their products! What if I wanted to reorder??? :?

  2. Jedda, I bought a bunch of tarts from BRH awhile back during a good sale and they just didn't throw well for me either. A few good ones, but mostly very light.

I intentionally picked this one because it was less powerful on cold throw, compared to some spicy tarts. But I wanted milder, not nonexistant. :(

I know that these are a blend, so I waited a few days to melt them... I was impatient and couldn't stand waiting anymore. Maybe I'll have to let them sit for a while longer.

  3. Just back from the YC outlet. No bay breeze to be had but I did get Happy Easter and Chocolate Bunnies. The salesgirl said the Happy Easter is biscotti. It smells wonderful cold! I think I'll save it burn in April if I can hold out that long!

How is the Chocolate Bunnies? I never have success with etailer chocolate scents- they always smell like plasic to my nose.

I'm a huge chocoholic, so I'd love to find a true cocoa scent.

  4. Today it's YC Sweet Melon and Pacifica Gardenia, left over from last night.

I've got a seriously full day, with bookkeeping and housework, so in a bit I'll swap for something bright and energetic. I'm thinking I might go with a strong, true apple scent...

I had a little time to kill while getting folks out the door this morning, so I was rooting around in my tart cupboard. I found one lonely mini-melt of "Hot Buttered Popcorn" From Missy's Tempting Tarts. It truly smells like popcorn, but it doesn't last. After about 2 hours, it is completely spent.

Now that my paperwork is nearly done, I'm melting BHG Crisp Apples in my bedroom/office. Haley's Pink Froot Loops in the livingroom.

  5. Blue Jewell by Brown Bag Candles

Today I am burning (melting) something BLUE for my DS Zack.

Last evening he fell off his scooter and broke his elbow. We spent the night in the ER and he was HORRIBLY treated by mean incompassionate nurse. (the xray tech was nice at least) Why do these people go into that field? I am heartbroken for him, and now I have to find an orthopaedist, how do you screen for compassion over the phone.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

    Laurie

I am so sorry for what you're going through. I know how hard it is to deal with people who are treating your kid rudely. :(

Have you asked your pediatrician for a referral? I always ask mine 'who would you take your kids to?' and it usually works. She knows by word of mouth (from other patients) which doctors are good with kids.

  6. Jedda, how is the throw on the Pacifica candle? I had a Pacifica Mexican Cocoa votive a while back and couldn't smell it at all.

    Lynn

This was originally a votive, and the throw was great in a small room. I didn't feel like it scented my livingroom adequately. If I wanted it in the livingroom, I burned one at each end of the 20x20 room.

What I've got going today is the last half of a votive gone bad. After burning it for a while, the wick started acting funny and smoking. I scooped it out and I'm melting it in a 24w plate warmer, and it is knock-out strong. The whole livingroom is smelling great!

So as a votive, it's okay, but as a 'tart' it is superb. This is going on 20 total hours of melt time, and it is still fairly strong.

  7. Tonight I'm melting BHG "Mulled Cranberry" - [smilie=th_slider_flirt] LOVE this one!

I found it with Christmas clearance, 90% off. It didn't have a strong cold throw, but I figured that 20c for a clamshell wasn't a big gamble. Boy was I wrong about the throw! This sucker is strong - I can only melt one cube at a time, and only for a short time, and my whole house smells like cranberry juice (in a good way, of course!) [smilie=th_smilies-2]

I'm also melting PFS Pink Sweet Orange and Haley's Battle of the Sexes, 2 of my all time faves! [smilie=th_dancing_smile]

  8. Yesterday was "Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream" from PFS. Smelled like chocolate and a bit of coconut, and something else. I can't lay my finger on it... sort of plastic-smelling. This one started out strong, but died out quickly. Honestly, I wasn't sad to see it go.

Today I have Haley's Pink Fruity Loops going in the bedroom, and BHG Sugared Melon and Kiwi in the livingroom. It smells fantastic in here!
