Scent Strength: Medium

First impression of Coastal Capri:

Coastal Capri is a new scent this summer from Bath & Body Works, and of course with their 10 dollar sale, I had to give it a try. With summer in full swing, I crave fresh scents wafting through my home and the description for Coastal Capri sold me, hook line and sinker!

Scent description:

Ocean salt water, birch leaves, fresh cut lavender, with essential oils.

That sounded like an interesting combo. Lavender is always so fresh and herbally and blends so well with just about everything. Ocean salt water sounded like an ozone scent – fresh! Birch leaves – I imagined something masculine. My guess for the overall scent will be something unisex. A fresh body splash or masculine cologne maybe, which Bath & Body Works are masters at creating by the way. I was close. As soon as I received this candle and smelled the wax, a fresh unisex aroma hit my nose. It smelled like perfume but not too heavy. Lavender? Not a lick. To me, this candle smelled like ocean saltiness and birch leaves with a hint of perfume. A fresh sort of “linen” scent.

Coastal Candle ReviewTime to light my candle!

I lit my Coastal Capri candle in my master bedroom and that’s where it stayed till the last drop of wax. Once lit, the candle reached a full melt pool in no time and the aroma… Mmm! Fresh perfume/body splash all the way. My bedroom smelled like I sprayed a soft perfume through the air and it smelled breezy and bright. I would still call this one unisex. The aroma wasn’t too feminine nor too masculine. It was a perfect balance of both. I liked it.

Strength – I would rate Coastal Capri an 8 out of 10 in a really large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms.

How did my Coastal Capri candle burn?

This candle burned great the first half of the candle. As soon as it hit a little past the halfway point. The wicks started giving me issues. One wick would sputter out, then two, then three. There is just something about the halfway point with this brand where the wicks just can’t hold a flame anymore. It’s frustrating.

Closing to my review:

I enjoyed Coastal Capri and am glad I tried it. Did I love it enough to purchase it again? Probably not. I think the burn performance played a role with that. But, I did enjoy the scent.

This candle was purchased through Bath & Body Works website but it’s not longer listed so if you wanted to at least sniff this candle, try one of their stores which carries all their current scents. Summer and fall. Yep – fall candles are already out and listed. It’s great to see what’s up and coming but I’m not quite ready for pumpkins and spice yet. How about you?

Happy candle hunting!
