Caramel Apple Cider – Shorties Candle Review

It’s so easy to get caught up in the candle sale “frenzy” with the big brand companies that we sometimes forget about smaller candle sites that put out equally as great of products. Such is the case with me and my rediscovery of Shorties Candle Co.

It had been years since I ordered from this site and I don’t know why because I really enjoy their candles. My downfall… they ran a huge sale… a super good one that was way too hard to pass up – 40% off select candles with I think an added 20% off or something. It was *incredible good* – let’s put it that way. I ended up with quite a few candles perfect for fall and Christmas I plan on reviewing. May as well right?

Shorties site (since I shopped there last) has had a total makeover and it’s awesome! Very professionally designed with all their products easy to find and browse. Love the new site! They list their current specials on their home page (which makes it easy for us sale junkies) with direct links to what’s on sale. I love their presentation and pictures… nice and crisp and perfect visual eye candy. A must for me since I’m buying based off their presentation and descriptions.

I settled on Caramel Apple Cider for my first review. Mainly because I can’t get enough of apple scents right now and popping open the lid, it smelled wonderful!

What did my Caramel Apple Cider candle look like?

These candles are very stylish and pretty. My candle was their large 16.5oz jar, the wax color was a caramel brown… weirdly… the pic on their site shows an all white candle with white wax but the one I received wasn’t white. I’m guessing the picture on their site isn’t reflecting the actual color… they’re just showing you the style jar.

The jar style is very modern and sometimes called “Metro” style jars. It’s a tall (cylinder) made of thick and heavy glass. The lids are flat glass lids that fit snugly on the candle. There is one label on the front of the jar that is the Shorties logo with the scent name towards the bottom of the label. Very nice and simple.

What did my Caramel Apple Cider candle smell like?

Cold sniff… Mmmmmm!!! It smelled just like apple cider with swirls of creamy caramel. I could even smell the perfect touch of spice. Here is the scent description from Shorties’ website:

“Relax at a chilly outside cafe sipping your deliciously hot cup of Apple Cider as the sweet smell of dipped Caramel Apples drifts on the breeze from a nearby candy shop. Sip slowly and bring on Fall with our wonderful new Caramel Apple Cider Fragrance. It will light up your holiday spirit and keep everyone around in that festive mood.”

What a great description. I lit this candle mid morning and it didn’t take long before the fragrance started filling my bedroom. When I smell this fragrance though, I’m not separating the two scents. I’m instead imagining thick gooey caramel sauce mixed with warm apple cider. That’s what this scent smelled like to me. I could smell both apple cider and caramel clearly – the spicy apple standing out the most… the combination was sweet, warm and very comforting.

Scent strength – this candle gave a nice consistent medium throw. The fragrance easily filled my large bedroom with scent. Really enjoyed this candle and totally recommend it to apple cider lovers out there.

How did my Shortie’s candle burn?

Perfect!! Very even burn with no wasted wax. I did have to trim the wick a few times a day or it mushroomed. Pretty normal with many wicks but I’m not a mushroom girl and cut them off as soon as I see em. Other than that, perfect experience!

Closing to my review:

This was a great candle with a nice caramel twist. It was sweet, spicy and oh so apple-y delicious! I really enjoyed it. Would I purchase this candle again? For sure!
