Tektonic Candle Review by CandlefindIntro To My Candle Review

One of the best things about my job is being able to learn about a number of different candle companies and their stories. It’s never just a candle review…the hows and the whys tend to make the what all that much more special. Enter Tektonic Candles, which is a candle company in the Pacific Northwest. All of the product names are centered around some important aspect of the area. I was lucky enough to try out one of their most popular scents, Glacier Peak.

First Impressions of My Candle

I loved the ice cool look of my candle – it was in an opaque jar with an unobtrusive label. The wax color was this gorgeous light blue-green that instantly made me want to relax. The candle jar had a good weight in my hands, giving me an indication of its quality. Unfortunately, I didn’t find this particular style candle jar available on the website. Bummer! The price listed in the review box is for their 8oz apothecary style jar.

The cold sniff of the scent itself was dee-vine. It was crisp and fresh with just enough mint to make the scent tickle the nose. I loved it! I could smell the crispness of the eucalyptus, which blended well with the soft, sweet peppermint. I went to the website for the scent description:

With top notes of sweet peppermint and a splash of eucalyptus for a very spa-like feel. Combined with some notes of cedar wood, and spruce, it leaves a little hit of holiday as the scent fills the room.

From Tektonic Candles

I found that as a very good scent description. I could smell all those notes on cold sniff, but mostly the peppermint. The candle had a fairly good cold scent strength.

I decided to light this candle in a guest bedroom given its size. At first I was worried that I wasn’t getting any scent from the candle, and then it hit me…CRISP…CLEAN…REFRESHING…Ahhhh! There was a soothing mintiness to this scent, grounded by the sweet scent of cedarwood. Eucalyptus can give off a medicinal smell, but I didn’t find that at all in this fragrance blend. It was very zen and spa-like but also quite invigorating.

The candle scented the space it was in very well and the throw was amazing. I could smell it all on the lower level of my home, so I always knew it was burning. After I blew it out, there was still the refreshing scent lingering in the air for quite some time. Fantastic!

How Did My Candle Perform?

This was a slow burning candle that burned flawlessly. I didn’t have to worry about the wick – just the normal wick trimming maintenance in between burns. The wick was on the thicker side and the flame was big but steady. I didn’t notice any black sooting while burning this candle. I got a full wax melt pool and there was no wasted wax on the sides.

Closing To My Candle ReviewCandlefind Editor's Choice

I was head over heels about this particular candle. What a great introduction to this brand! I can see why it’s one of their most popular fragrances. I found it crisp and clean, relaxing and refreshing at the same time. I loved the beauty of it as it burned and the jar is a keepsake for me. I hate I don’t see that particular vessel on sale on the site. Hopefully they will bring it back, but in the meantime, you can still get this fragrance in their tin or apothecary jar. They even carry this particular scent in wax melts. It’s one of my new-found favorites!
