Introduction to my review of two scented candles from Blue Moon Candles…

Wonderful candle companies are popping up all over the place much to my candle burning delight. Blue Moon Candles was introduced to me a few months ago and I’ve just recently tried a sampling of their candles. I love trying new companies and actually prefer them to the bigger names just because I feel like I receive a more personal touch along with quality and service. There’s so many great candle companies out there and it’s my candlefind mission to find them all. :-)I first want to say that I love the look of this website. It’s absolutely beautiful. I love the font style, the layout, everything! It reminds me of an old world medieval type setting which I’ve always loved and itss different and unique to me. Their products are laid out beautifully with everything easy to navigate through so it really was a pleasure browsing through this site.

Blue Moon Candles offers many sizes and styles to choose from such as pillars, containers, tea lights, votives and tart melts to please just about everybody. They also offer many other pampering products such as soaps, lotions & body butters which for me, are always as tempting as candles. Here is another company that offers an incredible scent selection in over 350 fragrances and counting… can you believe it, 350 fragrances!! Again, how can one not get overwhelmed trying to decide? Especially a candlenut like me!! Well, I decided not to even tempt myself and instead asked for something unique, I also wanted to try a coffee scent so I ended up with… CelticMoon Spice in a 14oz hex jar and Butter Rum Cappuccino in a 3X4 Pillar.

How did my scented candles from Blue Moon Candle smell?

CelticMoon Spice:

I loved the name which was the first thing that caught my attention and as soon as I read vanilla and spice, I knew I wanted to try this fragrance. I love vanilla fragrances and this one was pretty unique… it was definitely cinnamon vanilla but with a strong spicy bite. CelticMoon Spice is not your typical cinnamon vanilla either, it was much spicier than anything I’ve ever tried and the scent throw on this candle was quite incredible. I burned this candle in my bedroom and it was so strong, there were times I had to put it out and relight it in spurts. The fragrance traveled through my bedroom, adjoining bathroom and even filtered into my living room. Not bad for one candle and definitely my kind of candle with that scent throw. The description on Blue Moons website for this fragrance is:

“A fragrant blend of warm spices, hints of cinnamon, clove & nutmeg, with a lingering vanilla note.”

I couldn’t really make out the clove or nutmeg… I could only smell creamy vanilla and strong spice. This is the kind of scent I love to burn on cool crisp days & nights because it warms up my house and makes it nice and cozy. I highly recommend this fragrance for all you cinnamon vanilla lovers out there.

Butter Rum Cappuccino:

I was surprised with this fragrance and how much I enjoyed it. First of all, I wasn’t prepared to receive a pillar so I kind of stared at it for awhile with a perplexed look thinking, what am I supposed to do with this? In a nutshell, I’ve conditioned myself to only burn jars, which is stupid really. I’m glad this finally broke my stubborn streak and I tried one again. Pillars are so rustic and very pretty when lit. They can also be as fragrant as jars so thank you Blue Moon… you actually opened my eyes to the wonderful world of pillars again! I’ve been burning jars for so long that I had to brush up on pillar burning etiquette. Blue Moon has a page called, “have you hugged your candle today” so I read it and followed instructions to the “T”. I’m glad I did because I got maximum life out of my pillar and it’s burning beautifully.

The scent description for this fragrance is:

“Imagine a steaming mug of frothy, dark Cappuccino with a splash of warm buttery Rum. This scent is strong, bold, warm, (no whiskey notes), and yummy delicious beyond description! A guaranteed winner and definite must have.”

Butter Rum Cappuccino smells awesome!! If I’m being honest though, I thought it smelled more like caramel than butter rum. I’m not a butter rum expert so maybe they smell alike… I don’t know but it didn’t matter anyway because I liked it. I love coffee scents but on the sweeter side so this was perfect for me. It was definitely rich and creamy and fragranced my large bathroom quite nicely. This is definitely a fragrance I’ll buy again but I think I’ll try it in a jar instead. Old habits die hard. 🙂

How did my Blue Moon Candles burn?

My candles burned pretty good. I did have to keep my wicks trimmed constantly or the flame would get too big but I think that’s pretty normal. I do want to point out that both the wicks on my jar and pillar never mushroomed once. I’ve always disliked that the most with candle maintenance so not having to deal with messy mushrooms was really nice.

Overall Opinion of My Scented Candles from Blue Moon Candles:

I loved my candles from Blue Moon and will definitely be purchasing from this company in the future. I hadn’t burned a pillar in years and I really enjoyed burning one again. I’d forgotten how lovely they are and the warm and beautiful ambiance they create. Both my candles were very fragrant and smelled wonderful. I can’t vouch for their other 348 fragrances but I think they’re totally worth a shot and I do recommend this company. With so many fragrances, they don’t have full descriptions on all of them but feel free to send them emails asking for scent descriptions and scent strengths.
