Introduction to my review:
Hey Candlefinders!! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year! The holidays FLEW by for me and truth be told, I hardly had any time to work on all the Christmas reviews I had planned out for the month of December. One candle I did manage to burn during the holidays was Bayberry Fir from Shortie’s Candle Co. It was a medium size candle and a perfect accent and fragrance for my super busy bathroom where guests were in and out of often. We hosted Christmas this year so I knew I needed a nice and festive candle for my powder room. It was a pretty sage green and scented the room perfectly. During the few days I had it going, I managed to jot down my thoughts…
What did my Bayberry Fir candle look like?
My candle was their 10oz medium jar. The style is a cylinder metro style jar with a thick flat glass lid. The wax color was a rich sage green. The pictures on Shortie’s site show plain white jars but the candle I received was green… not white. I think they’re doing that to keep pictures simple and uniform on their website.
What did my Bayberry Fir candle smell like?
Cold sniff… it smelled spicy and woodsy. Very festive and strong on cold sniff.Scent description from Shortie’s site:
“Enlighten your senses with the beauty of the holidays, as you fill your home with the fragrance of bayberry and fresh Douglass Fir. Subtle hints of cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and hardwoods add to the cozy delight.”
I don’t have much experience with Bayberry scents so I’m far from an expert. To me, this candle smelled just like a Christmas tree with spicy and woodsy notes. I could definitely smell clove but it wasn’t strong which I was very thankful for – I am not a fan of clove. All of the ingredients in the scent description above were all there… I could smell all of it blended perfectly. Strength – super strong!! It took not even 5 minutes to really start noticing the fragrance and after that, total saturation. Keep in mind, I had this candle in a small bathroom so I’m sure burning it in a larger room would give off a softer throw.
Everyone loved this scent. Some said it smelled like cinnamon and pine cones… others thought it smelled like a Christmas tree. Opinions were across the board but consensus was, it was a great holiday fragrance.
How did my Bayberry Fir candle burn?
My candle burned perfect. No tunneling, no soot or wasted wax.
Closing to my review:
I really enjoyed this candle. It was a perfect fragrance during all my holiday festivities. It was festive enough for Christmas but not too strong like many Christmas tree scents can be. It didn’t irritate any noses or allergies. That’s something I always have to think about when entertaining. I liked this candle and would purchase it again. Two thumbs up!
Happy candle hunting!
