Valencia Orange Chesapeake Bay Candle Review

First impression of Valencia Orange:

What a beautiful candle this was from Chesapeake Bay! The moment I saw it at Target, I felt compelled to review it. I loved everything about this candle… the terracotta color, the ribbed ceramic vessel, the natural wax and it even had 2 wicks. My favorite! The wax on first sniff smelled pretty light but I did detect a nice and citrusy orange that had my mouth watering. I was so excited to get this candle home and light it up. There was even a scent description on the plastic insert covering the wax. Here it is:

Zesty notes of Valencia orange and green mandarin unfold a hard of dewy leaves and fresh flowers like a reviving morning breeze on a sunny day.

Interesting description. When I first smelled the wax, I didn’t really detect any floral notes so it will be interesting to see if that comes out once the candle was burning. To me, this scent was all citrus with maybe hints of the dewy leaves they mentioned.

Time to find out how it burns!

I decided to stick to a small room to burn this candle in and it turned out to be a perfect choice. Once lit, it took a few hours for the candle to reach a full melt pool and once it did… the fresh scent of orange with a hint of green notes hit my nose. This wasn’t your average orange fragrance either… it was much more complex, fresh and very different. Orange definitely dominated overall but with the added green notes, it seemed to give it a more herbal vibe. I never did detect the floral element and I was okay with that. This scent was perfect just as it was.

Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 7 in a small room. 5 in a medium size room. To me this candle was perfect in a small room giving a nice and steady medium scent throw.

How did my candle burn?

This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean and even burn from start to finish.

Closing to my review:

I really enjoyed Valencia Orange from Chesapeake Bay and would totally purchase it again. It gave a nice scent throw in a small room, the candle was gorgeous and I loved how unique the fragrance was. I’m going to keep my eye out for more of this style at Target.
