Introduction to my Twilight Candle Review:

It’s time for some classics! Sometimes I get so caught up in mixing and blending scents that it’s refreshing to stop, step back, and return to my candle “roots” … the classic, simple scents that first caught my attention.  This review will look at a few “plain janes” ”“  single note scents.  These are often difficult to make because you don’t have the other notes complimenting each other  ”“ if it does not smell like the real deal, it catches your attention.  That would not be in a good way!

Twilight Candle Shop has been in business since 2009… a husband and wife team –  and they pour 100% soy candles in a large variety of containers.  The website has a very soothing color scheme to echo the twilight name (lavender and light blue),  and you will notice right away that there are more than clear glass containers to choose from.  The scent list has about 50 scents listed – a few aromatherapy blends, but most are unfussy and  traditional.

I love the unusual containers! You can also buy candle making kits and custom candles at Twilight Candle Shop. Wickless candles and tarts are also available on the site.

Sandalwood
(classic jar)

This Classic jar is clear, has a flat glass lid and is 12 oz in size. The color of the wax was a light tan. Twilight Candle Shop reviewThe label is on top of the lid, so you have a clean looking container when you’re burning your candle… I know a lot of candle lovers prefer that.  My candle had one wick.

What did this candle smell like?

The cold sniff with this fragrance was mild with a soft woodsy scent.  When burning, the woodsy notes really became stronger and sweeter. Very nice scent. This candle softly scented a room about 12×12. There were no issues with burning  ”“  with a trimmed wick there was no soot, the candle melted evenly and fully,  and there were just traces of wax on the sides. All in all, a nice great burn. If you love mild sandalwood fragrances, you may want to give this candle a try.

Lavender (wickless candles and tarts)

I love lavender! It didn’t used to be that way, in fact a few years ago I would have described the scent as horrid!  As time goes on, tastes change… (thankfully ”“ remember  the permed/mullet hairdo combo in the 80’s?)  and now I can say that it is a fragrance that I like to try from every vendor.

The wickless glass container is 8 oz. of wax in a clear little potbelly jar with little handle like projections that my six year old neighbor calls ears.  This confuses him greatly as he believes thatTwilight Candle Shop review candles should have noses, not ears!

My wax is light purple (I could not bring myself to say “lavender”, LOL), with a gold metal lid.

Wickless candles are not something I usually melt.  Primarily because it can take a very long time for the wax to completely melt.   Such was the case here  – it was a little over an hour before the wax had liquefied throughout so the fragrance could be pumped out.  Patience is not a trait I am known for so I got a little antsy waiting for the scent to start.

What did my melts smell like?
Once it had melted through the lavender scent drifted softly in the air. It was not strong, it was a background scent,  you occasionally would get little whiffs in the air.

The soy star/sunshine shaped  tarts are also lavender.  I tried various ways to melt these.  The first attempt was 2 tarts in a standard 24w melter = moderate sent, mildly scenting a medium size room.   Next, 2  in a tea light melter = this heat was too much for the soy and the scent was burned off too quickly.  Final attempt = only one tart in a metal pan on the 24w melter! This combo, with only one tart, was the strongest of the trials!  This scented the medium room just fine!

Lemon
Twilight Candle Shop review
Saving the “best” for last… my favorite of the bunch!  I lit the Mexican Talavera cup, its scent was  lemon.  That is ALL –  just lemon! Check out this candle!! I adore this brightly colored container –   think “Fiesta” when you see this! They are hand painted and are lead free so they can be reused.  Yippee!!

What did my lemon “Fiesta” candle smell like?

The lemon scent is mild in a medium room, but that was OK ”“ it reminds me of a citronella candle that you would set outside for patio dining.  It is good to have these candles on the mild side ”“ most  folks do not like the scent of the candle to compete with their food! (Inside it strongly scented a small room).

Once again, the candle burned without problems.

Closing to my Twilight candle review:

The candles I sampled burned without difficulty, scenting mild to moderate ”“ and from what I read, closing to my review subtle scenting is their goal.

The way this vendor stands out is with the container selection! As I review, there is a really cute watermelon container candle available. So,  when you are in a creative mood, take a peek  at the container selection  on their website, or,  when you are in your Etsy SNS shopping  groove check them out here!

Happy candle burning!
