First Impression of The Original:
The Original from White Barn smelled amazing. It wasn’t bakery for a change, it was instead 100% masculine and rustic as can be. I also knew this was going to be a husband pleaser the moment I smelled it. As a matter of fact, I liked it so much, I purchased a few right then and there just to keep on hand.
Here is the scent description from the bottom of the candle:
Woody Vetiver, Black Peppercorns, Aromatic Cedar.
Yep. Masculine all the way. This is a manly scent that just makes you all fuzzy and warm inside when you smell it. That’s coming from someone who loves this type of scent though. If you hate rustic scents, then this candle may not be your cup of tea.
Okay, onto the fragrance. First impression… I smelled everything is the scent description but vetiver stood out the most to me with pine and pepper notes coming in a close second. This scent didn’t smell like a man’s cologne. It smelled like the outdoors or how I imagine a rustic cabin would smell like. The fresh outdoors with wood notes and smoke. I LOVED IT!!
Time to light my candle!
I had a feeling this would be a room filler so I lit this candle with glee in my master bedroom. Once the wicks were lit, I walked away and completely forgot about the candle. Fast forward a few hours later and my husband came out of our room and said, I quote, “What candle are you burning in our bedroom? I love it!!” This is coming from a man who never comments on a scent I burn unless he loves or hates it.
When I asked him what he thought it smelled like, he said pine and pepper. Good nose but after smelling the aroma myself, I did detect the vetiver as well and the overall scent truly was awesome!! A perfect combination of pinewood, vetiver and pepper creating a masculine kind of smoky scent. LOVED!!!!
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle an 8 in a large room. 10+ in medium to smaller rooms.
How did my candle burn?
The wicks with this candle struggled a little bit in the beginning but then tapered out and burned perfect from then on out. I was happy. This candle also burned clean and even from beginning to end.
Closing to my review:
The Original from White Barn was a pretty amazing fragrance and one my husband and I loved from start to finish. I’m really glad I purchased a few while on sale because this will be a staple scent in my home from here on out. If you love rustic and masculine scents, I highly recommend this candle. I loved it.
