First impression of Spearmint & Sugar:
Who would have thought Crate & Barrel would have scented candles, but they do and of course I saw them by sheer accident. I found them on a display towards the checkout and all the fragrances sounded so unique. I couldn’t resist purchasing one to review and if I like it, I’ll go back for more.
Spearmint & Sugar sounded right up my alley. I love mint and I love sugar and that’s never been a combination that I’ve found before so I was excited.
Here is the scent description for this fragrance:
Refreshing spearmint and mood-lifting sugar mingle with essences of lime, Valencia orange, lavender, rose and musk.
First impression… soothing spearmint stood out the most to me. It smelled like spearmint gum.
Time to light this candle.
I stuck to a small bathroom to start out and it was a perfect choice. Once the wick was lit, it took a good hour to reach a full melt pool and from then on out… a soft and sweet spearmint filled my powder room with fragrance. This aroma reminded me of spearmint gum to the *T*but sweeter which I’m sure was the added sugar. Very nice. And just a FYI… I didn’t smell any lime, orange, lavender, rose or musk mentioned in the scent description – at all. To me, this candle was solid spearmint.
Strength – I would rate this candle an 8 out of 10 in a small room which is great. But try in anything larger and I’m sure the scent would be very light.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great. No wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed Spearmint & Sugar. It was very sweet with the perfect touch of soothing mint. Not sure I would purchase it again though at $20 a pop but I would if it were on sale.
Crate & Barrel has quite a few fragrances in this collection. Spearmint & Sugar was just one of twelve so I probably will try more in this series down the road… I’m curious now. And just an FYI… if you don’t see this candle online, try a store where they carry all the scents.
