Pistachio Gelato Scented Candle Review – Chesapeake Bay

What did my candle smell like?
Chesapeake Bay has quite the selection to choose from at Target department stores. A lot!! At my local Target, an entire aisle is dedicated to Chesapeake so it’s kind of hard not purchasing a few every time I’m there. One candle and fragrance that caught my attention…. Pistachio Gelato. What sold me? The candle was large for one, the price, it had 3 wicks (which I love) and the wax smelled pretty darn good when I first popped off the plastic lid… and I’m not usually a fan of Pistachio scents.
I couldn’t find a scent description for this fragrance… which was a bummer so I’ll do my best at describing it for you. The label on the candle showed a waffle cone loaded with a big scoop of pistachio ice cream topped with pistachio nuts. YUM!! So that’s how I’ll imagine this scent to be. Creamy Pistachio ice cream loaded with pistachios. Sounds good to me!!
Time to light my candle.
Even though this candle was large and had 3 wicks, I still decided to start it in a small room and as suspected… it ended up being a good call. This candle was very lightly scented and a small bathroom was a perfect room to burn it in. The three wicks lit right up and within 20 minutes, I had a full melt pool. This was a very pretty candle to watch burning. The fragrance however was very light. So light, it was hard to really even smell the fragrance. When I could… it smelled sweet and creamy and yes, it smelled like pistachio ice cream. I liked it. The only bummer was the scent throw… it was extremely light.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 2 and that was in a tiny powder room.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero issues. Wick maintenance was light and this candle burned clean and evening from beginning to end. A+.
Closing to my review:
This was a really pretty candle to watch burning but it was a little too lightly scented for my liking. It’s too bad because it did smell pretty decent. Alas… I won’t be purchasing it again. I like candles that give off an aroma, even if it’s subtle… this candle wasn’t even that.
I have several more Chesapeake Bay candles to review so hopefully, those perform better. We shall see….
