Introduction to my review:

I love Pier 1 candles. Love em! I used to buy their candles more for décor but now they’re really starting to expand their scented candle line and I love it!!

I was surprised when I saw they now carry wood wick candles… their versions are called Sizzlewicks. They don’t have very many scents in this line so I just purchased one… the scent, Paradise Fruit and oh my goodness did it smell wonderful!! A burst of fruitiness hits your nose right when you pop off the lid and it was very fresh and sweet.

Sizzlewick candles are very simple in design… the glass jar is shaped like a honey pot with a flat glass lid. The wax was pure white with one centered woodwick. There was no label on the candle aside form a warning label on the bottom of the candle. That be it.

What did my candle smell like?

First impression… the wax smelled sweet, strong and fruity. I liked it right off the bat. Here is the scent description I found for this fragrance:

“A blend of pineapple, orange and Hawaiian apple balanced with earthy undertones of galbanum and Maui violet.”

Smelling the wax, to me, this candle was all pineapple and orange. Maybe apple but it was hard to tell. I didn’t smell any floral notes at all. Just a sweet and fruity aroma.

I stuck to a small room to test this candle in and after a good 15 minutes, I could have easily moved it to a bigger room. The strength was nice and strong. Every time I walked by the room, I was hit with a burst of fruitiness and you know what it reminded me of? Juicy fruit gum. In the beginning (going by the scent name) I thought this was going to be a tropical scent but I’ve changed my mind… this candle smells exactly like Juicy Fruit Gum. All the way.

The wick lit up perfectly and it crackled and popped to everyone’s delight, These candles really are fun to burn.

How did my candle burn?

This candle burned perfect. The wick lit up easily and gave a nice steady crackling flame. I did have to trim the wick before I lit it each day (totally normal) or the flame was a little too large. It burned clean with no wasted wax. A+.

Closing to my review:

I’m keeping my eye out for more Sizzlewicks at Pier 1. I really enjoyed this candle and want to try more. It was fun and it burned great. I haven’t had Juicy Fruit gum in forever and it brought back a lot of great memories.

What to try a Sizzlewick? I purchased my candle at a Pier 1 store and think that‘s where you‘ll have the best luck finding one yourself. I checked online on their website but didn’t see them listed there so I’m guessing they’re only available in stores only.

I liked this candle, enough to purchase it again.

I would have rated this candle higher for authenticity but it didn’t really smell like the description so I wasn’t quite sure how to rate it overall so I gave it a 3.5. If the description would have said “Juicy Fruit Gum” – I would given it a 5.
