What did my candle smell like?
I am so incredibly late getting this candle reviewed. So much so, it’s not even available anymore. It’s such a beautiful fragrance though, I still felt compelled to review it. The wax smelled so exotic and lovely… like oranges and spring flowers. A heady mix that I couldn’t help appreciate – which I found odd since I’m not a fan of floral fragrances. It could be the citrus notes that sold me. Regardless, I really liked it.
I couldn’t find a scent description for this scent but do know it’s a blend of mandarin and lychee (from the scent name) which actually confused me. Lychee is a fruit and I assume would be sweet. When I smelled the wax before lighting it however, I could clearly smell floral notes. It reminded me of a lovely and elegant perfume. Dainty and soft. That’s what this fragrance brought to mind.
I lit this candle in my master bedroom to start out – just to see how it fared and sadly, it could not hold its own in that size room. So, I moved it to a small bathroom where it performed much better. Once it was there a good 10 minutes the aroma moved through the room like a soft cloud. It wasn’t super strong but gave a nice and steady medium scent throw. The fragrance… just as it smelled when I first took it out of the box… a blend of mandarin and lovely flowers. Very different and unique – like a delicate and soft perfume.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, in a large room, I would rate this candle between 3 & 4. In a medium size room, a 6 at the most. An 8 in a fairly small room. This is definitely a subtle fragrance.
This candle burned pretty good. It took a long time to reach full melt pools with each lighting but it eventually did and burned clean and even from beginning to end. This wick was 100% cotton so I did have to keep up with trimming it each day – which is totally normal.
Closing to my review:
This was an enjoyable fragrance and it was really pretty to watch burn but it was just a little too subtle for me. Otherwise, it was a great candle. I’m still not really sure where the “lychee” element was but then I didn’t have a scent description to reference either. Either way… it was a lovely fragrance, especially if you love delicate floral scents.
Now for the sad part… this candle is no longer available on Bluewick’s website but, you never know… it may make a comeback and some point.
Happy candle hunting!
