Coco Vanille Bluewick Candle Review

Scent Strength: Medium
First impression of Coco Vanille:
Let’s start off with the scent description for Coco Vanille:
Coconut, Santal with Tangerine & Amber Vanilla
I had no idea what “santal” was so I had to look it up. Here is what I found:
“A crystalline compound derived from flavone and obtained from red sandalwood and camwood.”
I know what sandalwood is. Flavone? No clue. A quick internet search didn’t tell me much, it was all about more compounds and colors from plants. Suffice it to say, this scent was sophisticated and I knew it the moment I smelled the wax. It smelled like a luxurious and very elegant perfume. First impression, I didn’t smell any coconut or tangerine. This scent was all santal and amber vanilla and it was really beautiful. I dare say I even detected some floral in the mix but I can’t be sure. I asked my daughter to smell it and she agreed, she smelled flowers. Interesting. Even so, I still loved it and couldn’t wait to light the wick.
I’m hooked, now let’s see how this candle performs.
Because this candle was 17oz and pretty large, I took a chance and lit it in my master bedroom to test out. Once the wick was lit, it took several hours or so to reach a full melt pool but the fragrance started permeating my bedroom long before that and it was a really lovely scent. What did it smell like? A soft and beautiful floral that truly reminded me of a delicate perfume you would smell in an expensive department store. Re-reading the scent description, I didn’t smell any coconut, tangerine or vanilla which was odd and what I was actually expecting. Regardless, it was still a beautiful scent for what it was and I’m not a fan of floral fragrances.
Strength – This candle wasn’t very strong in a large room. I would rate it a 6 out of 10. I did end up moving it to a smaller room the following day where it performed much stronger. 8/10 in a medium room. 10 in a small room.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned pretty good. It did struggle reaching a full melt pool with each lighting but it wasn’t too bad. I used my wick dipper to push any leftover wax into the wax pool so it all got used up. Other than that, clean and even burn. No soot.
Closing to my review:
Coco Vanille may not have been what I was expecting but it was still a beautiful scent and one that I enjoyed to the very end. I can also safely say my husband never once commented on this fragrance the entire week I had it burning. That tells you how soft it was and a fragrance not at all overpowering.
In closing, if you love floral scents and on the softer side, Coco Vanille is a beautiful candle to try.
Happy candle hunting!
