Candle Review: Je T’aime Fragrances

Introduction to my review of Je T’aime Fragrances:

Bonjour my fellow Candle Connoisseurs! I recently attended a Spa party at the home of one of my girlfriends, but have never visited an actual Spa. While I’ve heard the many experiences of a Spa can be wonderful, it is also “tres” (very) expensive. Well, Mes Amis (my friends), you are in luck! I have found an affordable, 24 hour, Candle Spa on the internet! To find out what I mean (and for a chuckle), go to the Site Introduction of the Je T’aime Fragrances website. I’m not going to say much more because I don’t want to spoil the fun for you:0).While the site is enjoyable, it is also very professional, easy to navigate, and has fantastically detailed descriptions of each product. Denise Cassaly, the owner of Je T’aime Fragrances, has obviously also put that much time and effort into her candles.

Je T’aime has five different candle collections: Signature, Classique, Spa, Designer, and Intimate. I wanted to give you all a petite (little) glimpse of the many fragrances and types of candles that Denise has to offer, so I tried a candle from each collection.

What do my Candles from Je T’aime Fragrances Look Like?

These candles are Tres Magnifique! As soon as I opened the box, the aroma of the candles managed to find their way through the bubble wrap and paper each candle was thoroughly packaged in. As I unwrapped my candles, I was immediately impressed by the initial visual presentation of these jars.

Denise sent me two square-footed jar candles. The first jar was an 18 oz. candle in the fragrance Southern Charm and dyed a pinkish purple. The second jar was a 10 oz. candle in Strawberry Rouge and colored hot pink. Both sizes of the square footed jar are available “in either a frosted (Signature Collection) or clear (Classique and Designer Collections). These candles simply shout “class” to me and are accented with a frosted glass lid that is adorned with the Je T’aime Fragrances logo. The logo is a black heart with a little “fleur de lis” (flare) as embellishment.

I was personally sent two clear jars with frosted lids and they really do “elegantly” compliment any decor. Even my husband, who has little interest in candles, noticed the difference in quality. Once I had set my candles out, my husband glanced at the jars and said, “Wow, those are elegant! They look really different. I like them!” Trust me, coming from him, that is saying something!

I was also sent a 4 oz. Gold Travel Tin in the fragrance Chestnuts and Brown Sugar, and clamshell melts in Chestnuts and Brown Sugar and Strawberry Rouge. The travel tin is charming and would be a great knick-knack for a coffee table or small housewarming gift. And of course, you could always use them for traveling:0). There is a stylish black label on the top of the tin with the name of the company and the fragrance. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the French language, like me (I took Deutsch), Je T’aime means, “I love you.” Yet another reason it would make a great gift idea!

How did my candles from Je T’aime Fragrances Smell?

Southern Charm

Candle Friends, since spring is (hopefully) almost here, I tried a floral fragrance just for you. I have to admit, I’m not a big floral fan, even if it smells like the real thing. Florals are usually just too perfumy for me. But I’m an addicted fragrance sampler who is always on the lookout for something unique and different, and Denise’s bestselling fragrance from her Signature Collection, Southern Charm, intrigued me. Each fragrance in the Signature Collection is personally developed by Denise, who is also a fragrance designer. To my surprise, Southern Charm was such a well-done floral fragrance, I can truthfully recommend it to those of you out there that, like me, may not care for floral aromas, but feel at a loss when you want to burn a candle that blends with the season of spring. Southern Charm is described as:

“The beauty and splendor of the south come to life with this most tantalizing, feminine, and romantic fragrance. This unique creation is a combination of four southern floral fragrances. This fragrance is absolutely beautiful and is a tribute to Southern Belles.”
It is truly exquisite and Denise says that it promises romance when the fragrance is released. Almost as popular with men as with women. A MUST TO TRY!!

Southern Charm is also Je T’aime’s #1 Bestselling Fragrance, and I can see why. While it is a strong scent, it isn’t overwhelming… kind of like how real Southern Belles (or just Scarlett O’Hara) can be- spunky and in your face, but polite about it. My mother is a true Southern woman and she thought it smelled fantastic, so there you go!

Strawberry Rouge

Strawberry Rouge is a bestselling fruity fragrance (right up my alley) from Denise’s Classique Fragrance Collection. It is described as:

“An absolutely luscious scent of fresh picked succulently sweet strawberries unlike any other strawberry fragrance you have experienced. This fragrance has a powerful scent throw and is a must to try! Highly recommended.”

I can’t say I thought it smelled like strawberries, but I’ve tried several strawberry fragrances from many companies and have found few, if any, are truly authentic ones. To me, it smelled like strawberry laffy taffy. If you like candy scents, Strawberry Rouge did indeed have a powerful scent throw, was very yummy, and is definitely worth trying. I think it could also be a great scent for Easter if you’re a die-hard, anti-floral burner. Candy scents are “spring esque,” right?

Chestnuts and Brown Sugar

This little 4 oz. travel tin richly filled my medium sized bathroom with its strong and scrumptious aroma! The scent was just as described on the website, “A delicious mixture of caramel and rich maple combined with chestnuts in a buttery cream base. This fragrance is a real winner!”

If you’ve ever smelled Chestnuts and Brown Sugar before, you won’t be disappointed with this version. If you’ve never tried this fragrance before and you are a “bakery burner,” this scent is mouth-watering and you simply must try (aka buy!) it!

For you melt lovers out there, Je T’aime’s melts were equally as strong as the candles, if not more so. I highly recommend them!

How did My Candles from Je T’aime Fragrances burn?

The corners of the square jars can take awhile to melt down, but if you let them burn for several hours at a time, they eventually catch up. The candles burned beautifully with no smoke or soot.

Overall opinion of my Candles from Je T’aime Fragrances:

Je T’aime candles are a luxurious “Spa” quality that I would describe as gourmet, stylish, and elegant, but are so affordably priced that you can purchase these luxury candles without the guilt. If you desire a personal “candle consultation” at the Je T’aime Candle Spa‚ be my guest‚ I just loved corresponding with Denise. Her friendliness, professionalism, and commitment to customer service easily come across in her emails.Be sure to keep an eye out for yet another Je T’aime review in the next few months. Denise had so many candle collections, I just couldn’t pack it into one review.

In my next review, I’ll let you know what I thought of my 4 oz. frosted Spa candle in Je T’aime’s bestselling aromatherapy/essential oil fragrance, a soy body massage candle from their Intimate Collection, and a La Petite Fireplace candle (soy wood wick).
