Creating wax melts is hard enough, but to make them look incredibly realistic is a whole other level of special. Many candle companies try for the cute factor, yet there is something missing from the final product – be it the scent, longevity, or strength. We were curious about the soy candles at Gourmet Candle Co., as they do offer some of the more realistic looking wax melts we’ve seen. But how would they perform? We bought a handful of wax melts to try, including this Gingerbread wax melt. It is incredibly adorable, but what did it smell like? Spoiler alert – it was fantastic!

What did we test?
The wax melt was firm enough to hold its shape but it was easy to cut into and felt a little crumbly afterwards. We did use a crinkle cutter to cut up our pieces, trying to make sure to have a pretty even amount for each of our three melters.

While we understand the purpose of the shrink wrap, and it obviously did it’s job, we just aren’t crazy about how this wax melt is packaged. Once opening the wrap, you would need to either melt it all relatively soon or find a suitable container to store it for a while. We keep several sizes of these polypropene bags on hand just for occasions such as this.
