The Better Homes & Gardens Lavender & Lemonade wax melt is a bit of sticky sweetness which came off fake. We didn’t get the lavender notes, but it still fared well in scent strength and throw.

Cons
- No details on wax, fragrances used

You can always count on wax melts from Better Homes & Gardens to get your quick scent fix, and for a reasonable price! With the start of Spring, I am looking for fruity and floral fragrances. What’s better than a Lavender Lemonade? I picked up the Lavender & Lemonade wax melt from Better Homes & Gardens during a frequent Walmart excursion. This one turned out to be a little too sticky sweet for my personal liking, but it may be one that you enjoy.
Who Is Lavender & Lemonade For?
You have to love very sweet fragrances to enjoy this scent. This is more of a candy-like sweetness as opposed to a bakery type sweetness. There are definitely some lemon notes and bits of vanilla, but not much in the way of lavender.
What did we test?
This was a standard size package of clamshell wax melts, weighing in at 2.5 ounces per the container. The clamshell had six cube sized pieces that were easy to break apart for individual use. There was a little bit more of a scent description found on the Walmart website (aromatic lavender that is suddenly refreshing with a tart lemonade and fizzy sugar crystals.)

The packaging had a picture of some fresh lemon slices and lavender sprigs which summed the scent up perfectly! The scent description on the packaging read Lemon, Sugar, Pineapple Water, Lavender, Melon, and Vanilla scent notes. The wax was a pastel purple color and this was a hard wax. It was super easy to break off the cubes for use. My package of wax melts was made by Rimports, as I could tell from the 8 at the beginning of the UPC.
What did we like about Lavender & Lemonade?
We did love the strength and scent throw from this wax melt. It was fantastic! It filled the room well and it also traveled down the hallways and more.

What didn't we like about Lavender & Lemonade?
As I have become more exposed to handmade wax melts, I’ve come to prefer products that are phthalate and paraben free. There are just so many options out there, it does make sense to avoid phthalates and parabens when possible. The Better Homes & Gardens wax melts are actually produced by Rimports and, unfortunately, I am unable to identify whether their products are phthalate and paraben free. Likely not, but I would still like to know for sure. I am also not sure of what wax type is used. From the feel and look of the wax, it appears to be paraffin, but I am not sure if they combine it with other waxes.
Other than the above issue (which we have with all Better Homes & Gardens wax melts), we really didn’t care for this fragrance. We were expecting a great blend of tart but sweet lemonade with aromatic lavender. Nope! We got mostly a sweet, sticky lemonade with lots of sugar. So much so, in fact, that it seemed fake. It was too candy-like and not in a good way. I didn’t detect any lavender no matter how hard I tried.

If you are looking for similar fragrances like Lavender & Lemonade, you may want to consider:
- Lemon Lavender, Yankee Candle Company This is what a floral/fruity scent should be! There is a great mix of both scents, but it is not as strong as BH&G Lavender & Lemonade.
- Lavender Lemonade, Rustic Rays Candle Co For a sweeter fragrance (but not too sweet!), this blend is a good option.
- Lavender & Lemongrass, Swan Creek Candles This fragrance is more about the lavender but you also get a bit of bright, citrus notes from the lemongrass. Lovely!
