When you need a quick fragrance fix, you can always count on your local Walmart for one of the ScentSationals wax melts. With this brand, you’re even able to go shopping on their website, although the price is a little higher there. We picked up the Cinnamon Apple wax melt at our local Walmart because it was cold outside & this scent seemed like the perfect fix for that.
Who Cinnamon Apples is For?
This is a strong fragrance that is great if you are looking for a scent with a lot of punch. It also travels well and lasts a really long time. If you love fruity fragrances, this is a great option for you. It is fantastic fragrance for apple and pear lovers.
Using our wax melt testing process, I found this melt did HOW in all three types of burners (electric, bulb, and tealight). I thought the tealight burner gave it more of an even performance and better scent throw overall. You can’t go wrong, though, no matter which type of burner you prefer to use.
What did we test?
This was a standard size package of clamshell wax melts, weighing in at 2.5 ounces per the container. The clamshell had six cube sized pieces that were easy to break apart for individual use.
The packaging had a picture of red apples sitting on top of some cinnamon sticks. The scent description is not included on the packaging, like you see with the Better Homes & Gardens wax melts, but there was a saying on the front that said “Easy As Pie.” The wax was a red-brown color and this was a hard wax. It was super easy to break off the cubes for use.
What did we like about Cinnamon Apples?
This was a fantastic fragrance, leaning more heavily into the sweet fruity aspect as opposed to spices. There was mostly sweet apple notes, but we also did detect hints of juicy pear. There was the warmth of sweet cinnamon blended in but not heavily so. It smelled a lot like the insides of a pie filling – yummy!
As far as cleanup, nothing could be easier. When using the freezer method, the used wax popped right out. Nothing to clean up afterwards! I also used the cotton ball method and pouring out the wax while warm. While those methods were easy, I did have to give some extra rubs to get the dye coloring out of my wax bowls.
What didn't we like about Cinnamon Apples?
As I have become more exposed to handmade wax melts, I’ve come to prefer products that are phthalate free. There are just so many options out there, it does make sense to avoid phthalates when possible. The ScentSationals brand is actually owned by Rimports and, unfortunately, I am unable to identify whether their products are phthalate free. Likely not, but I would still like to know for sure. I am also not sure of what wax type is used. From the feel and look of the wax, it appears to be paraffin, but I am not sure if they combine it with other waxes.
There really wasn’t much else to not like about Cinnamon Apple. It was simply fantastic!
